Tranny's can be shipping regular UPS shipping. They fit into a large plastic tub that can be bought at Walmart. Engine will have to be shipped via frieght and put on a palette.

yup, I bought a rubbermaid tote from home depot drilled a couple holes into it and zip tied the lid on. The trans weighed 158lbs I think.. Shipped it standard UPS ground.

I have shipped both ways. If you do the rubber tub youd be wise to put something in the bottom (plywood or something) so the weight is spread over the entire bottom of the tub. Also it must be completely drained or they may not ship it.

Ive also used a freight company with stuff strapped to a pallet. Thats how I shipped my 4.3 shortblock when i sold it and If i remember correctly it was less than $200 to ship it from MD to FL. I used a website (cant remember now) but it was a shipping quote site kinda like a pricewatch type thing. Gave you a couple different shipping quotes and you could schedule the one you liked right there very simple.

I drained the trans fluid, lined the bottom of tub with wood and stuffed cardboard around the trans to keep it from moving. Cost something like $120 to ship from NJ so SC. I didn't shop around, just had UPS come pick it up...

Here is some good information about shipping engines and transmissions.

http://www.engineshipping.blogspot.com/

My dad recently used a company called engineshipping.com to pick up a GMC inline 6 cylinder motor out of NY. and had it delivered to CA. The rate was really good, quick delivery, and it arrived perfect shape. The person that my dad bought the motor from made a simple metal fixture to bolt to the motor / bell housing and then set it down on top of a standard 48" x 40" wood pallet. He then drilled holes in the pallet and secured it to the fixture with bolts/nuts/washers. He also used some old ratchet tie downs and stretch wrap. The shipment weighed about 700-750 lb. inlcuding pallet weight and the cost was $225.00

After the good experience my dad with his shipment he has recommended them to his friends to move heavy car parts and they were happy as well. You might want give them a try and have them quote moving all of your parts on a pallet.

The name of the guy that helped my dad with his quote is Kevin at 1-800-998-2100

Did same with DHL,they even came to my house to pick it up,and it was cheap (LESS THAN 200)

It was funny, dude picked it up and said "What's in this,a transmission?"

I said "Yep"

I used a company called Saia if you can load and unload them using a loading dock or fork lift they where more than 1/2 the price of any one else shipped a bare block in a crate weighed 275 for lith 175 bucks

if you get into having to have a tommy lift or something I think it gets expensive

How much to get a trans shipped over here? Not sure my trans guy knows what he's doing so worst case scenario is to buy another :(
