So, you're running the same kind of belt setup as me, but you don't have a tensioner. How tight is the belt, do you have any slippage? You just use the alt. to hold the belt tight I take it? Here is a pic of mine. The reason I ask is because I thought about not using the tensioner too once I saw how the belt fit with just the alt holding it in place.

So if you run your belt setup without the tensioner and ac pump as showed in the picture, too me it looks as if the water pump pulley really doesn't have much belt pressure against it. If this is the case wouldn't one run the risk of the belt slipping on the water pump and the pump not cooling properly?

One would think by the looks of it but it's not the case.. i've ran mine for at least two years now with zero issues.. Have even daily driven it most of that time too and no issues.

Pretended it was a truck and made 2 trips to home depot to get supplies to build 100 ft of new fence.

My belt is pretty tight, took afew trips to the parts store to get it right.I can spin my water pump pulley if i really try to turn it. With the alt bolt out there is about 1/2in I have to pull it to get the alt bolt in. Works fine for me and i never had a problem with over heating,or a sqeaking belt. I also have a underdrive crank pulley.

Check the fuse behind the alternator to see if it's blown:

.
"Intercooler pump fuse location behind alternator. Fuse is in a weather pack connector and the top has to be opened to expose the fuse."

Also another note. Unless one is running stock chip, IC pump overrides are already programmed into most aftermarket chips. .

Getting ready for Nats!! Things that i have planned to complete before that date...
  • Run new intercooler lines that i bought from summit. They look braided!
  • Install kenne bell intake
  • install new radiator hoses (upper and lower)
  • flush antifreeze
  • change out all heater hoses to the one i bought from summit
  • oil change
  • battery tray clean and paint if need to.
  • some more VAC lines that i found that i never replaced. Will use the red color that i used on rest of motor.
  • fuel filter replace
  • radiator fan with the safari one i bought that has 11 blades.
  • Exhaust
  • full motor detail
  • full truck detail
What i might need to wait on.
  • want to replace battery with a smaller one...still searching on which one to use.
  • get my stock rims redone. I actually have two sets will be selling one set soon.
Some pictures.

Well, I took off the rocker cladding, rear corner, and the front drivers arch, went over to Mark's and dropped them off to get repaired. Looks like I am going to have buy a new(used) front arch cladding. Thats OK though!
Getting the tires next week!

Did an oil change and cleaned the air filter! Need to buy a new one. It is rubbing on the fender well and wearing thru. :-(

Thanks for the advice. ECM is bone stock. I had already checked the fuse (which was blown and I thought that was it) while doing the hotwire and checked to make sure I had current to the IC pump plug. Replaced the fuse and the voltage was good. Plugged the pump in and it is kaput!

Oh well....it makes it MUCH easier now to explain to the wife why I need to spend $150 on parts. And now I can get to my rubber IC hose upgrade even quicker.:)

Also a big thanks to Brian Green for learning me about the "click" test with the relay!

I'm currently in the "HATE" part of the love hate thing!
Working on SY1258
I installed abs delete kit. (not too bad) While I had wheel off, and inner wheel well out I imstalled an upgraded steering shaft. (not too bad) While I'm there I might as well do a tune up. This is where the hate starts......Previous owner claimed to tune up right before he sold it.(less than 1000 miles ago) 3 plugs were only finger tight:squint:, he had cut the power wires going to the coil to install a cheezy aftermarket coil:(:, and it was obvious the cap and rotor hadn't been changed in a looong time. One dist cap screw broke off in the dist:rant:! OK pull the dist. You all know how fun that is. Well, that is where I gave up last night. I'm heading out to the barn to try and finish up.
Only one of my trucks is currently running, Thats about right, isn't it? About 25% of SY TY's are operational at any one time!

Send me a PM once you get it back on the road. I know and feel your pain. Would like to get info on what steering shaft you used and how much better it works for you. That is the next mod I need to do. There is no way I'm going to the track until it rides nice. Concrete walls are not fun running into.
