I'm running 275/40/18s all around. You might want to reconsider the 275/45s. I went to Tire Rack's website and got the following measurements:
245/50/16s (stock syty size) measure 25.6" tall and run 811 revolutions per mile
275/45/18s you're interested in are 27.7" tall and run 755 rpm
275/40/18s I have are 26.6" tall and run 784 rpm, which accounts for my 4% speedo discrepancy
275/35/18s would be my recommendation because they're 25.6" tall and 808 rpm - same as factory!
Not sure what look you're going for, but the 275/45s will make your truck look like it has a lift kit- it'll sit 1" higher than with factory tires. My 275/40s look good and fill out the wheel wells, but my truck sits too high for my taste. If you're planning to race your truck, most folks would suggest going down to a smaller rim - low profile 18s don't hook too well. Hope this helps...
Truck is sitting still (like most). Working on all of the details to get it running. I have zero miles on these tires. What do you think of those tires??? I was originally going for those, but could not find any in stock for some reason. I ended up getting sumutomos(however you spell that) and I'm happy, but think I'll try those next time.
Thanks,
Running 28" tall tires will definitely increase the chance of rubbing, mess up speedometer/odometer reading, and slow down the truck. Just because you run 18" rims doesn't mean you can't run tires with the correct diameter.I'm looking for a 28" tall tire. I have 18" rims now and are keeping them. I plan on running larger Corvette brakes soon and need teh 18's. I'm looking to see if anyone is running this size and it it fits the front wheel wells without hitting while turning?

Running on larger diameter tires is like running on a larger chainring on a bicycle. You will lose torque and acceleration. Also, larger dia tires have more mass, which take more energy to spin. For larger dia tires to give you benefits, you would need to modity your gear ratios. But it slowing down the truck, I thought it would do the opposite. I was thinking a taller tire for drag racing would be good for me.
275/40/18's are still too tall. You want 275/35/18's.275/40/18 all the way around

Go here to compare the various sizes relative to the stock 245/50-16's: Tire Size Calculator
Yes, your tires are a little more than an inch larger in diameter than the stock tires. The difference is clearly visible in the picture you posted (they look too big). Try plugging your tire info into the tire calculator given above.I think my speedo is off by 3 or 4 mph, is that what you mean when you say they are "too tall"?
