Dyno engine harness use

Well this might have been discussed before but info seemed to be spread out.

I sourced a new engine harness. Now I need to figure out the odb port for the datalogger. Is there a harness for this or do I need to run a few wires to the harness and call it done.

Power source, grounding and tuning software/hardware is already figured out and done.

Anyone got some help?

Re: Dyno engine harness use

for datalogging all you need is the serial data wire (orange from ecu - forget the pin location) and a ground (touching the ecu)

picture those being the top right, bottom right plug on the aldl cable and connect them to the appropriate pins on your aldl cable and it should work.

A is ground, M is data

Re: Dyno engine harness use

Thanks mike.

Wasnt sure if it really was that simple or not. Knowing gm I figured there was a catch to it. Then I guess I will run an extra long lead from the ecm and a ground to my aldl cable when I do strap the motor to the dyno and be set. Thats pretty sweet I dont have to hack the new engine harness i plan to use as well.
