Ignition Key removal

Hi everyone,

Might be kind of a dumb question, but it's my first Syclone! To remove the key on these things, is it normal to have that tab to push down, like in manual equipped S-series? Or has this truck had the steering colum replaced some time in it's life?

Re: Ignition Key removal

Yeah, that's normal. Not all S series were like these, I had a 92 Blazer that didn't have that thing. Maybe it was something that was just on the GMC's and not the Chevys.

SyTyless......for now!
Re: Ignition Key removal

SyTys have this feature because they were "incomplete" vehicles when they left GM to be finished. IIRC, since these weren't column-shift automatics, the only alternative was the manual-style column.

Gotcha, that makes sense, thanks for the clarification!

Hell, on my '91 S10 column shifted auto, the ignition switch was so worn that a hard left turn would send my keychain flying into the passenger footwell. The lock is standard on all SyTy's though.

Thats been my favorite feature of all my gm vehicles and my jeep, I like to start the truck then remove the keys and lock the doors to warm it up. I was pretty bummered to find my cylinder on this truck is like new and I cant get it to come out.
