I have been asked to pass some pertinent info to the participants of the SyTy Nats.
During this event, regardless of what has been said on the internet, all NHRA safety rules and requirements will be followed. Nobody will get around the rules regardless of how far they have traveled, how much money they have spent, or what they told everyone was going to happen. It certainly would not be fair if someone was allowed to operate outside the standards set forth by the governing body, the NHRA, because of poor planning or personal circumstances. Under no conditions is a European chassis tag, or driver's license accepted at an NHRA track--not at an official event, or a private function. Any person, from any place on earth is more than welcome to have an enjoyable, safe experience at an NHRA track, within the rules set forth by said association.
It would only take one car, one mishap, and one lawsuit for people to start losing their jobs. With this is mind, the possibility of a waiver that would disregard the rules, and possibly bring discredit upon the NHRA, a track, or an employee of either entity, is impossible. If such a waiver is in existence, its validity is moot.
Just think how much faster we could all go if we didn't have to spend thousands of dollars and countless man hours on safety equipment.
