Laptop stand?

Ok, I am not 100% sure where to put this, but I suppose this is as good a spot as any...

I was wondering what everyone is using as far as a laptop stand in the trucks. I don't want to leave the laptop loose on the seat, and need it to be easily viewable from the drivers seat. I've seen some fabricated aluminium pieces in the past, but can't figure out where to buy one. Anyone have any thoughts? :)

Re: Laptop stand?

If you want.. you can use a police style laptop stand. I'm not sure on here to find one. But I'm sure if you searched around the web a little you could find one for sale. Try e-bay infact. I know alot of the Buick guys use them in their cars. ;)

Re: Laptop stand?

My biggest problem is I use one laptop for several cars, and daily work.

I found this place mentioned on the Buick board:

Work looks awesome. :) I e-mailed him to see if he can make one for a Syclone, and how much. Would anyone else be interested in one? Possible Group Purchase? :)

Re: Laptop stand?

I know when I was looking at these for my Buick a few years ago, he advertised that you could have a passanger without a problem. I had actually thought he was out of business, or this thread wouldn't have happened ;)

We have these platforms here where I work that swivle around, up, down ....and there is a small platform attatched to it that holds something "laptop" size....that's what I've used...it is kinda neat to be able to pull the screen over to you, or lock it in place while you're screeming down the 401, lol.....I can see if we have any extra's....no charge.

Re: Laptop stand?

I actually had a PS2 mounted on it ( Toyota Supra)..I was too lazy to install it in the glove box, lol....it sits on a pin, so you have to have a good support, and it has an arm that adjust and stuff, pretty cool, lol.....I'm in Canada, and I will see what I can do for ya...I lied about it being free, lol.....you have to find a way to get it..but as far as I'm concerned, you can have it for nada...we'll call it a favour in the making or something, lol...

Re: Laptop stand?

Just had another idea for ya....we use a monster dial indicator in our shop, it must weigh at least 9-10 kg's...and it locks stiff.....could you modify one to work ? It is made up of a bunch of metal links that are strewn together with a cord........how much does your laptop weight ?

Re: Laptop stand?

Well, they lock in place............so you could probably use 40 lbs of boost and it still wouldn't move....If you had read the threads earlier, I was commenting on how I had one in my Supra...talk about boost, lol....but that was also with a PS2.....Who knows, it might work, lol...

Re: Laptop stand?

I use my laptop case. I wrap the trap handle around the seat and make it tight. Then I sit mylaptop in there. It works...

Re: Laptop stand?

As long as it works, and "ahem" looks decent enough, lol.....Got another question, let me pick your brain...I have this tube running from the bottom of my air intake assembly, right before the carb and filter, and it runs to an opening in the drivers side valve cover, lol....I'm probably going to kick myself for this, lol....anyways, I have one that is in really carppy shape..........what the hell is this tube ?
