Guages in the POD

Currently i have a boost gauge and tranny temp gauge in my pod. The boost gauge is the only one hooked up for now but i have to say DAM its bright. The bulb is a blue and i love it in the sense that i can see it and it looks great at night but....When i drive at night it also bothers me. I think it is to bright or maybe just the color. What color or bulbs are you guys using in your gauges. Am i the only one that gets bothered from it. I am worrying when i do hook up my tranny gauge and it lights up i might be blinded. :rotf:

I hooked mine up to the dash lights, they dim together...

Yes thought about that but i need my dash lights on at full brightness at night and to be honest the dash lights at full bright is nothing like the gauge. That thing is bright.

Blue is the worst color to use for your gauges. Sure it looks good, but it hurts your night vision the most.

Red is the best to use, as it effects your night vision the least. Hence why the old arm flash lights all have that red cover/lense.

If its just to bright for you, you could wire some resistors up so that its dimmer. Or if you want it adjustable you could wire in its own potentiometer. (same thing your dash lights use to adjust brightness) just for the gauges.

What are others using. Do you think i should go with the summit bulb covers or the LEDS. I think the LED might be as bright as it is right now. Again what color are people using. There has to be more people with lighted gauges.:(

I had the same problem so I put the covers on and it fixed it. I wasn't blinded any longer but then it was I tittle dim. That was better than being blinded. :shocked!:

I got a pack with a few color's in it that way I could see what I liked. I think I used green it seemed to match the best.

Re: Guages in the POD

I'm running a red 194 bulb in my mechanical boost gauge in my syclone. All my other gauges are green in color which doesn't blind me at night:

"Autometer mechanical boost and SPA dual gauges (boost, trans temp & fuel pressure, intercooler temp). Also, gauge power switches (to reset max stored values in SPA's) and TCC lock up switch."

I have red 194 bulbs in all my gauges in my daily driven S10:

Is that an autometer gauge pod?

In my syclone, yes. I have a Lotek in my S10. I prefer the Autometer over the Lotek due to better fit, finish and visability. A member took a side by side pic a few years ago showing the differences:

The only reason that I have the Lotek is that I bought it used for a good price. Otherwise, I would have an Autometer pillar pod in my S10 as well.
