Went out tonight with a couple friends and did 2 runs with his Z. The first one was a pretty bad launch, he got close to 10 cars on me by 60. The second one was the best I had; I had a real nice launch and had 1-2 lengths on him by 40, but he started walking on me after that. Guess this means I get to start the tuning, seeing as how this was only and automatic 350Z :rotf: .

Auto Z's are not much. I raped with my almost stock Sy. I will give it 60-100 was faster then my Sy but 0-60 I had about 5-6 lengths on it.

You need datamaster and get it tuned, good kill though.

I have datamaster and have run it before, need a laptop battery though :( . I'm changing cap/rotor and plugs this weekend.

But then again... no disrespect here..... but he is only 16..... maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing if it was detuned for a while... and I mean that in a good,,, might save his ass kind of thing

my battery sucks in my laptop as well, get one of those power invertors that plugs into your cigarette lighter.

I'm digging into the ignition this weekend. I guess years of neglect and sitting in a shed do this sort of thing :(. I'm thinking my chip needs to be reburned or I just need a new one. It's a conley magnum, but I have aftermarket injectors and a few bolt ons, so who knows what the chip is set for. Could a vaccuum leak have something to do with it? My cruise control doesnt work, and my idle always tries to fall way too low and die.

Yes a vacuum leak will make it run like crap.The Conley chip will be fine if your truck is running right.

Wow. Changed out the plugs and cap/rotor. It had ACDelco CR43TS and were gapped at .030 :rant: . Runs soo much better. Z went down pretty quick after I got done with the ignition :cool: All we needed was one run to see who was faster :tup:. I'm going to lay off the pedal a little though; I still don't think it's performing to its ability.

Yes I ran it while we raced. Something weird happened though while I was just idling in a parking lot. Knock count went from like 400 to 31500! In just one record, no spark retard, no changes or anything. Maybe just a glitch? I don't know how it would have so high for no apparent reason.
Edit: Are CR43TS plugs OK to run? I've heard of 42s, but haven't heard anything on 43s. Either way, I put in NGK UR5s in their place.

I would stick with the 5's for now.
I have seen Knock counts go up without it pull any timming. Not at idle though. Sounds like you might have some false Knock going on.
