1992 vs. 1993 Typhoons, which is the best?

Hidy ho fellow truck fans,

First off, I did my searches, I set parameters, I did the dance. My question is:

Is there any major difference, quality/reliability-wise, between the 92 and 93 Typhoons?

I'm still in the early stages of making a purchase, and Edmunds.com had the 93 rated 4/5 on mechanical reliability and the 92 rated 2/5. Any truth to this? Running a search containing 92, 93 and Typhoon Comparison brought up about a billion threads.

my ty is a dd and I have no issues what so ever, I love driving it and love to see people snap there necks everyday its great, but im one of a few thousand. thats my story

No major mechanical changes between 92 & 93's. Slight changes include transmission upgrades & memcal update (chip) and the ABS went from 4 channel to 3 channel.

Shouldn't be much of a difference as far as reliability and driveability is concerned, mostly just little changes to the interior like the 93 Ty has full leather seats while the 92 has leather where you sit but the sides are cloth. Under the hood and the drivetrain should be indentical though.

i agree with the gold, hence why my 93 has 92 decals, but better looking interior? c'mon, that gray shit is gay as hell. the only thing 92's have over 93's is the stitching in the headrest.

Makes it all worth it! hehe

The 92 seats are Camaro seats recovered with embroidered headrests. They are what made the Typhoon so cool. It wasnt about teh turbo, it was the seats. Then in 93 they went with old man cushy all leather seats. This was because GM and PAS knew the Ty was on its last leg, so they skimped on the seats and just threw in some big ole leather seats for the final run.

93 fat man seats rule the world! I wouldnt even look at a 92 when I was searching for my truck just for that reason :lol:

Us little guys love those 92s and we wouldnt be seen in a 93 for that reason. lol

93's were rated at 285 HP, vs the 92's being 280. Some later 93's got L35 heads IIRC...

The 93 seats give me a lower back ache. My ideal Typhoon would be a 93 interior with 92 decals & 92 seats. Maybe even try using the 93 power seats track. Make it in Royal Blue and it would be perfect :)

Ohhh damn... you just gave me a great idea... I took out some power buckets to put in the 92 Ty seats... I know what Im researching today...
