Re: will 1.6roller rocker.

Does anyone know where to get studs to install the Promagnum 1.6 full rollers, part #1318's to a set of 96-99 heads without retapping the 10mm stud hole or using washers on the 60* V6 ARP studs?

Might have to elongate the pushrod hole is the only thing you might have to do and that doesn't require machining.

You will also need to address the metric threads on the stock Vortec rocker studs.

Yes the 60* V6 ARPs are 10mm, but too short on the 3/8s top! I'm trying to do this without pulling the heads and looking for a solution and so far the only one I've been offered is to use the ARP 60* V6 and use a washer under the seat to give the extra stud height requried for the rocker and locking nut. I don't like that idea.

Yeah your option are using the ARP V6 studs which are incorrect for our application, drilling and tapping them for english threads (using tradition SBC studs), or using the OEM metric rocker (ie stock V6 stamp rocker, the later 2001+ Vortecs had a nicer shaft rockers, but they use a 8mm so you can't used them with the earlier 10mm studs). I also suspect that you could use the metric 1996 Corvette LT4 1.6 rockers. However, I have never used or heard of anyone using the LT4 rocker on our motors. One problem with the LT4 is the GM Pefrormance Part LT4 rockers were english 3/8", only the original LT4 used a 10mm Rocker and Studs. Also the OEM had a factory recall of the 1.6RR as well, you don't want those either). Most people don't realize about the 10mm vs. 3/8 LT4 rocker difference (even sellers), so you have to becareful and know what your looking for.

None available as far as most of us know. Just drill them and retap for standard studs.

Re: will 1.6roller rocker.

OK,

so I have gone down this route and need to put the washers under the rocker studs - anyone got any suggestions on what ones to use or perhaps more importantly, what not to use?

Height is the main one - anyone running/run this setup that can speak from experience? It's the only thing holding me from buttoning up the valve covers.

I was thinking along the lines of some ARP washers? Anyone?

Thanks!

Re: will 1.6roller rocker.

I have spoken to arp on this subject several years ago.(I am using 1.5 comp RR). They told me that as long as i use arp flat washers, that it'll be fine, even with two washers. Their washers are true flat. I used two washers on the bottom of the stud to get 8 treads on top, that gave me 7 treads on the bottom with the washers. Also i cut down the polylocks to get 8 treads. I instaled the studs with high temp rtv , and tourked them to 60 pounds.
Been running great with no problems

Call arp and tell them what you are doing. They have the 10mm hardened washers you need. They told me to use the chamfered ones. i dont know if thats how you spell it. they said that kept it from possibly breaking off the head of the rocker stud. youll need to use two washers for each stud.

Re: will 1.6roller rocker.

you can also get some extra threads if you machine down the poly locks. they have about a 1/16 to 1/8 in of nothing before the threads start. i could send you a pic of mine but i doubt it would do anything for you. mind you this setup hasnt run yet, im still assembling the suspension and accessories.

Re: will 1.6roller rocker.

you can use a chevy 496 big block studs. they have the same 10 x 1.50 bottom but the top is 7/16 x 20 and i think the 7/16 stuff is expensive.
