Almost filled up for $100 and then it hit me...

I'm keeping my SGT.

Friday night coming home it I just kept shaking my head driving by each gas station. The lowest I'd seen was $3.57 but just two hours later it had risen to $3.63. Filling up the Silverado just cost me over $85 and then I decided its not time to sell the SGT rather keep it. It should help me save "some" money at the pump.

Once I got it out of the garage and into the sun it was time to get it smogged (sp?). Almost immediately I has some kid in a Honda trying to race me. I gave him enough to take him off the line and get enough of a lead that I slowed it down, it must have something to do with being older and having my son with me (although he had a blast).

I've forgotten how much fun it is to drive this little truck. It shall be a fun summer again.

Yeah gas prices are getting to insane to drive my TY, So i think i take it out about once a week now. Thats about all i can afford to do. And then i have a daily driver TrailBlazer that cost $80 to fill it and i do alot of driving. I think its time to go buy a Flipping Hybrid, (Honda Civic). I hate this gas shit. Its either Put food on the table or drive.

If you have ever been in hand cuffs, its kind of a similar feeling. Its like, you know there is no reason for the cuffs, but you are in them anyway and there is nothing you can do about it.

it's only going to get worse. According to what they are saying, eventually we are all going to be paying markets rates. Gas will eventually be $5.00 a gallon ( regular).

I believe it...just like I believe I'll end up really owning a Toyota Prius... At the moment though my SGT is the most fuel efficent vehical I have but now my bicycle is looking more attractive, yikes.

Yeah seriously this gas shit is BS. I just spent $90 to fill up the tank in my Jeep and I still had 1/8th of a tank left. Shit when I bought it two months ago it was $81 to fill it from dead empty and I thought that was a lot, now I'm at $100 to fill it from empty or damn close. If I had the money to get a 5 speed beater Honda or something I would but I'm strapped from filling up the gas hog Jeep!

Don't you believe it. As long as speculators keep driving the price up, it will go up just a little more. What we are in now is just a passing phase. Gas will be back at under $3 but it won't be until after the summer driving period. Momma didn't raise no fool. :tdown:

I'm not too sure about that. Gas will be up over 4 buy the end of summer and I wouldn't count on it coming back down below 3.50. And within the next year....I think oil will be 200 a barrel or close to it. I think the days of 3 and unders are long gone. I just bought me an S10 with a 5 speed to help myself out. The rest of my project are sitting around 10mpg. I hate to say it...but it won't be long before I have to go buy another bike or jump into a hybrid.

lol That's actually not a bad idea...Might have to use that $600 rebate check we're all getting and buy myself a used engine. Car ran like a top then one day #4 let go and hit the spark plug and bye bye went the engine. I'm only the second owner my mom and stepdad bought it brand new in 95 as a leftover and he maintained it 100% being an ex mechanic/body man himself. It has 170,000 miles on it but if the front seat wasn't worn from his fatass you'd never guess it, it's in really good shape.

Eh anyways, I got 18.3mpg out of my last tank in the Jeep, nice increase from my previous best of 15.xmpg althpugh I haven't kept track in about a month and a half. New plugs, cap, rotor and tranny filter/fluid helped a bit along with some warmer weather and me not beating the snot out of it TOO much.

Your sitting on broken gold! :rotf: What's that 95 SL2 get for mpg? Like 40? I know the early models were great on gas. Even mine gets 36-38 consistently in the warmer weather. Around 33-35 in the winter.

Well when I had it the best I got was mid 20s but that's because I think it needed a tune up or some shite. It sat for about 6 months before I started driving it because my stepdad got an 06 Nissan Frontier Nismo and he didn't need the Saturn anymore. That and the fact that it was blowing out oil like crazy but that's just an every day problem with the LLO engines, the rings/ring lands SUCK! That's what they get for casting the engine in f'n styrofoam!

Anyways back when he drove it (as a DD mind you, never had a lick of trouble except for two alternators but that was another typical problem) he was getting in the low/mid 30s but that's because the DOHC 5 speeds sucked, they had short gears which was better for performance but 75mph put you well over 3,000rpms which wasn't really economical. I'd love to get an SL1 transmission as their gears are crazy long, 3rd will bring you to like 110 if you push it. A lot of the turbo Saturn guys swap out the SOHC tranny and don't spin nearly as much with the shorter gears.

Wow getting off topic now, good gas mileage ftw! My buddy just bought a new tranny for his 97 3 cyl Geo Metro 5 speed, hooray for 50+mpg! Better than his Trailblazer when he's lucky to get 20mpg on the highway.

$200 A BARREL IS COMING. We will not stop the momentum unless the dollar gets lucky. Iran is now selling all oil in Euros and Yen. Dollar goes down, no investors.
