3-4 WOT shift?

When is the 3-4 WOT shift supposed to occur? I made a run the other day and my Sy shifted at 90 mph. I thought I read somewhere the shift is supposed to be at about 100? I searched the archives, but it seems everbody has problems with the 3-4 shift coming too late or even not at all. Would adjusting the govenor cure this problem and if so, how do you adjust it? I also need to change the filter and fluid in the tranny, but have not got around to it yet. The trans was rebuilt long before I bought the truck, so it is not the original. It shifts fine from 1-2 and 2-3. Any ideas? Thanks

If yours made a 3-4 at WOT don't worry about it. Do you know what rpm it came at? As long as your not hitting 4800 to 5000 rpm on a stock engine you are ok. This is out of the power band and can hurt the engine and stock tranny really bad.
One thing you can look for is to see if your 1-2 is between 11-15 mph under light to moderate throttle. The 2-3 is 17-23 and the 3-4 should be 41-51 somewhere in there. I believe WOT 1-2 is 24-28mph.

If it is real low, say 8mph when it shifts to second then there is a problem.
Probably need to push the little tab on the TV adjuster and slide the holder that the cable runs through in about 1/16" to 1/8" of an inch and feel it again. Do this with the truck warm.
Then take it out and do a moderate/normal takeoff. As soon as it shifts to 2nd gear, mash it to the floor. It should IMMEDIATELY shift back down to 1st gear. Not just accelerate, actually shift back down. If it doesn't you need more TV pressure.
If you had a 3-4 shift at wot then you have 99% chance that you have a syty tranny. Don't worry about that. If you get it to where you want it and then the next day it doesn't feel the same, your TV cable is fubar and doesn't hold adjustment any more.

I will try and get a datamaster run to see the exact shift points. The battery on my laptop is screwed up so I am going to get another one this weekend. I will try the tv cable adjustment this weekend and see what happens. Thanks Blake.
