Re: 4l80e conversion.

Do not... I repeat, DO NOT... install the trans and transfer case as one unit without removing the rear crossmember or at least notching it.

It goes in ok but will it come out? Will it f***.

Re: 4l80e conversion.

I am back up and running, its no fun removing and installing a 4l80 alone with jackstands.

now have
Speedinc transfercase inputshaft
PTC converter rebuild by ProTorque
4l80e overhaul by ckperformance with billetinput shaft.

Re: 4l80e conversion.

For any future searches where this may be stumbled upon , most of the old prime gears forum can be found on the way back machine . The tech data was helpful for specific syty and 80e questions .

It is hit or miss at times , but eventually it does come up .

Re: 4l80e conversion.

Now you have me wondering. I have gone low 10s on a PG 4l80. Defenatly have the most passes. 300 plus. I have never had a failure. But I pulling the trans for a refresh and I too have the 27 spline conversion. I was told it was a hardend shaft. I'll post up what I find. I suspect mine is bent.

Make sure you have all of your billet parts that you paid for... I was one out of three... Best luck to you. Please post what billet hard parts you find... It would he nice to know due to you running super low 10's..

soooooo, don't buy a PTC converter, check.:rotf:

I have a ProTorque in my Ty now, but I know Harmon and a few others are running Circle D converters, guess Ill figure out what to go with when I get to that point.

Re: 4l80e conversion.

Billet Circle D here as well. Chris is great to deal with and has custom built quite a few SyTy converters.....

Re: 4l80e conversion.

I'm waiting for payday this month but will be ordering a Circle D Pro III 2B 258mm converter on 1 Nov. 3000 stall with a free rebuild/restall in first year.

He's fantastic to deal with.

Re: 4l80e conversion.

I worked out today how much I have spent dealing with this 80e conversion. It's not a nice number at all.

Sorry Denny - seems like we're both having a crap time with these transmissions and converters!!

Re: 4l80e conversion.

I spent around 7k the first time, another $1800 in the last 2 months and will be another $1200 in the next two months for a new converter.

I thought when you go with a 4l80e all your transmission wories are over.
