4l80e wiring?

Re: 4l80e wiring?

like I said, your shift points and rpm match the tps tables so I think those are ok. I'm not sure of the use of the desired gear vs current gear line.

If you had them switched round the wong way then your RPM in 1st gear would be much higher as you'd really be in 3rd gear with solenoid B on. Not sure that's your problem.

You can see the rpm drop from 1-2 but your 2-3 shift doesn't show an RPM drop, nor 3-4. Actually, looking more closely, your RPM does get a lot higher from 2-3 so maybe that is possible...It's hard to read this log!! So much info!

This connector pack does sound like it might be a culprit..

What does the rpm do when you change the gears? does it rev up and sound awful from 2-3?

Re: 4l80e wiring?

have you tried swapping a solenoid to be solenoid in your configuration program?

Re: 4l80e wiring?

i don't think you can in the TCI prog - PCS is better. I had a look and there wasn't an option to mess with the solenoid config.

Re: 4l80e wiring?

No real update yet, I was away all weekend for work!

A good friend of mine has offered to take a look at it when we both have time. I have also been in contact whit tci. hopefully I will know more latter this week.

Thanks,

Jeremy

still haven't had a chance to work on it! This is supposed to be our slow season, but it hasn't slowed up yet.

Re: 4l80e wiring?

I think I may have finally got this thing fingered out! I have been real busy with work for the past few moths, and taking a break form the ty let me look at it with fresh eyes yesterday.

Anyways I think I have a short in my harness form tci. I was checking the harness yesterday and noticed that I have continuity with the pin 54 in the main harness(sensor ground) at all the of the shift solenoids, VSS TSS and temp sensor. I also have continuity with pins 1-4 on the main harness(12volts) at all the same locations.

I'm not an electrical genus, but I can see no what that this would work, and maybe explain some of the weirdness in the temps relationship with the shift solenoids being active.

That doesn't sound good...

New harness?

That's what I'm thinking. may have to wait a few more days to get that one. I have been spending too much on guns and ammo lately! Too many expensive hobbies, not enough money or time!

Re: 4l80e wiring?

As i was cutting the old harness out I left the volt meter hooked up to the pins 1-4(12volt+) and pin 54(sensor ground), as I cut the ground wires form the tps and rpm the continuity went away. I'm really scratching my head as to what I have done now! I'm waiting on a friend to look at it and help me figure out what I did wrong.

Re: 4l80e wiring?

I feel like a real dumb ass now, but I finally got this thing working. I turns out that the program in my tci box was bad. I bought the TCI TCU used and I thought it had the program from George Blake in it already. after going trough the setup wizard it shifts like a champ.

Moral of the story, Don't overlook the simple things!!!

Thanks,

Jeremy

Re: 4l80e wiring?

yea, I wish I could go and and beat on it for a while! Still breaking in the new motor, then I'll install my pte 6776rsp turbo, then tune again, and then, and then.

I think I now have way too much motor for the waller 57mm that I'm running now for break-in. I really having to baby it to stay out of boost!

Re: 4l80e wiring?

Depends of your theory of breaking in.

I like the theory that you beat on it immediately - gets the rings in the cylinders into the right place.

:D
