500000km 4l80 worth it?

The company work for has a G van with a 6.5 in it. Would it be worth taking the trans when they junk it? Nit sure what the service was like for it, but apparently its starting to slip. I was thinkin of tearin out the guts and replacing everything with HD stuff.

Would it be worth the time and effort or are there any problems with the trans case on q high mileage trannies?

What about the hydro boost unit would it work with my Sy?

As for the 4l80 I think it is all about the case. They break lugs off bc of a crappy snap ring holding stuff together. Hd2 kit it n do a rebuild. Free is worth it to me. But I just got one for $400 that is working fine. I'm going to rebuild it after I make it slip probably put a kit in it first. I'm being cheap.

N don't bother asking a generic question about the install that's out there also. GL

Woh! Sorry didn't mean to be a jerk. I just have been searching the same stuff and that is all in an easy search.

And by the way I just rebuilt a 4L80 in my stock Silverado and the lugs were broken (not the band ones). That's without any of those ill whatever mods. 200k+ miles

No shift kit. Stock. I wonder then why the HD2 kit I installed(when rebuilt it and had to buy a case) and all the ones they sell have an extra wide snap ring. Tranny was slam shifting 1-2 when it went bad, pretty typical mode of failure. w/e

Mine was a 99. Looking back I think I could've been a sticking valve. Prob only slammed a dozen times over a couple of months. But it started slipping and went out completely in a couple of days so that's why I had to finally take it out.

And never is a pretty strong word. You must be absolutely right. Since I've seen that too. Plow trucks all the time.

BTW I didn't jump in and have it rebuilt bc I was broke, I was laid off in Feb 09, and I didn't have another ride. And I rebuilt the whole thing without ever doing more than a filter change. So I ve got some skills.
