what brand/octane are my fellow canadians running in their sytys?
which do you think is best?

I notice some stations like mohawk and husky have higher than 91, but its 10% ethanol.

is ethanol good or bad for our trucks?

Re: canadian gas

from husky/mohawk website:

"Performance Plus 94 (Selected Husky and Mohawk stations)
This version of Ethanol-blended Mother Nature's Fuel is the highest octane gasoline available anywhere in North America."

would this be the best pump gas to run in a stock syty?

Ya, it's got a Turbo
Re: canadian gas

Ethanol has less BTU's compared to gasoline.

Shell V-Power is ethanol free @ 91 Octane. Unless you're running super boost levels or a tune I find the 91 works fine.

Here's my opinion...

Gas, quick burn and that's it.

Methanol, slower burn and better

Nitromethane, uber-slow burn and 10K+ hp.

Ethanol is a second cousin to methanol. Sure it takes like 30% more fuel to get the same job done but it has more HP potential...JMO...

Re: canadian gas

Petro Canada's the newest refinery out of all of them, and by far the cleanest. I'm a refinery/oilfield inspector, I look at this stuff all the time. That being said, I haven't found a favorite between the 3 (Shell, Esso and Petro Can) thus far, but I haven't tried anything too scary with the truck just yet. Ethanol blended gas is fine as long as you can tune for it. E85 kicks ass, but expect twice the injector, and it's not available around here yet (or maybe never?)

Sunoco isn't available here, I wish to hell it was.

Re: canadian gas

I would run nothing but mohawk/ husky 94 or 92 if 94 is not available. They get the gas from Petro and put the ethanol in.

I have stock vettes that come it for tunes with a tank of shell and they ping.I drop in 20L of mohawk and knock is gone and can gain power with tune.

Re: canadian gas

I've heard the same thing about Shell. Does anyone have problems with water build up in the husky/mohawk 94? If I let the turbo T/A sit for a few weeks it will run like crap with the 94 but that doesn't seem to happen with petro can premium. I don't notice it so much on the truck since it's daily driven.

Re: canadian gas

My 97 Talon loved Husky 94, but I could tune for it with the DSMlink ECU that was in it. I haven't gotten to that stage with the Typhoon yet. I may have to hit Nolan up for a tune or a how to one of these days :)

Re: canadian gas

I have not had any issues but any gas could go bad over time. How long does it sit?

It was usually for a few weeks at a time. I figured it was water build up since EtOH is known for that but it could have been something unrelated.
