Re: Classic car insurance options?

I also have American Collectors, for quite a few years now. I pay $300 something per year. Never used it except to get a tow one time due to a broken rim and flat tire.

hmm, American Collectors quoted me $1,000/year. So i didn't follow up. I will have to call them and see whats up.

American Modern, through Homesite Insurance, Akron OH. $298/yr. Agreed value, has to be in the garage. Sounds high compared to some of the other posts here.

I have American collectors insurance and mine is $425/year. I have a 2500 miles a year policy. I remember my insurance agent mentioning about higher annual mileages not being its effective with American Collectors vs a regular insurance policy

Funny I came across this thread today because just yesterday I asked my broker for a Collector car insurance quote. I think they use JC Taylor. I will let you guys know what I end up with?

Re: Classic car insurance options?

My insurance company just notified me that they want to raise my Home Owners rate $500, but drop my auto rates $200, but they no longer will do "Agreed Value" and will do stated value only. **** that.

I got a quote from American Collectors Insurance for an $18k AGREED VALUE, and it's:
7500 miles/year
Would require me getting an antique tag
$713.15/year

To me, that's really kind of absurd.

I might as well just throw regular coverage on it and then if something happens, fight it out with the adjuster and invoke arbitration, especially with the values some of these sub 100k mile trucks are bringing in the market right now.

American collectors here. Have filed a couple claims and no issues. Very responsive and quick payments. 1 claim was for a totaled vehicle

Re: Classic car insurance options?

Just called JC Taylor. $192/year for $18k agreed value.
Will be limited though on usage. Apparently there is no "mileage restrictions". If anything ever DID happen that wasn't at a show or something, would need to have a good story lol.

UPDATE/EDIT

Okay, so here's what I wound up going with for the time being.

I am running just a regular policy on it with CELINA for the moment. $393/year for 100/300 coverage. I drive it to work sometimes and just go cruising, so I don't want to be limited on mileage/show/club restrictions, etc.

They attempted to run a STATED VALUE of $18,000 on it and it would have been $605/year for the same coverages. HOWEVER, remember that STATED VALUE is either ACV at time of loss OR Stated Value, WHICHEVER IS LESS. So basically, there is NO BENEFIT to ever run a STATED POLICY. AGREED VALUE ONLY or throw a regular policy on it, make sure they have it listed as a TYPHOON and if anything ever happens, get ready to fight insurance and invoke arbitration with a 3rd party appraiser.

I just signed with Heacock from Florida. They rep American Modern. Quote was $150 cheaper than American Collectors and $900 cheaper than Hagerty.

Re: Classic car insurance options?

This is one of the quotes I got. Didn't quite ask what all it allows/covers but one of the requirements is a car club membership. Does being a member of this site count? This leads me to the next questions... isn't anybody a vendor of this type of insurance who is also a member here? Can this site negotiate a reasonably priced group purchase of such? I will look into it here in town and see if anybody wants to do this for us.
Anything the agent needs to do to become a vendor here other than support this site?
