Clunk when turning

Could someone with a low mileage truck check something for me? With the wheels turned all the way to the left or right can you move the flange a little bit that comes out of the front axle to the CV shafts? I have got a clunk in the front that I have been chasing for a while and just noticed this and found this looking at older threads

Re: Clunk when turning

Im going to take a shot at giving you some info because I'm kinda new to these machines. I think it could be your torsion bar bushings. I'm about to replace mine in the next couple weeks because I'm getting a clunk when I turn or go over bumps and I know that's my issue. Hope this helps.

I notice it when I back up and say have the wheels turned to lock. Then once I drive for for a bit I get the clunk again.

Yeah maybe it's just one that's gone bad and not both. Check them out and see but I'd lean towards that being the issue.

Re: Clunk when turning

I had the "popping" noise when turned lock to lock also. My friend works as a tech at Chevy dealer, and he found it in 5 minutes. He cleaned and lubed my steering stops on the spindles and the control arms. I thought, there is no way that's going to fix it, but sure enough, it's perfect now, no more noise. Fixed my problem!

i'm not gonna read any of the previous post because I'm lazy. Sorry. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say this V-clutch. What size tires are you running?

Stock tires sizes. I rebuilt transfer a few years ago. Two new GM core axles came yesterday. I am going to install them this weekend and see.

had the same prob on my 2003 ZR2 from the time I bought it brand new. Took it to the dealer under warranty several times and they insisted it was the bump stops... nope. I got frustrated and tracked it down myself. The control arm bolts weren't torqued; I re torqued them and no more popping.

Found it.... ****ing asshole that did my alignment left all my upper a arm nuts loose. I was able to move the upper a arm by hand....
