Right now in in the process of swapping a 2003 lq4 and 2001 4l80e transmission in to my 1992 GMC typhoon. I bought a kit with all the brackets and mounts from http://sytyperformance.com/ The problem in that i the parts for the transmission are not fitting. I was hoping some one on this forum could give me some incite on the difference between the pre 95 transmissions and the post 05 transmissions? Are the cases the same length?

sincerely

Here is a link to my facebook with pic for my problem.

Slot the holes on the tranny crossmember so it lines up. What are you going? Turbo or regular induction? I'm looking at the bolt hitting the mount also, you might have to shim up the tranny mount so it doesn't hit it, grind the bolt head down to give you some more play room.

I thought the only difference in the cases was the bell housing and the cooling line locations. Length should be the same for both. I have the older style case in mine, I just had to change it over to the newer style wiring harness inside for my TCI controller to work.

What are you using for exhaust manifolds? I heard Vette ones work with a small amount of work on them.

I was going to try to use the truck 6.0L manifolds. They are really tight with the stock steering shaft. I think it will work with jeep steering shaft.

I just sold my spare truck manifolds on the ls forumn, maybe I should have kept them around for a trial set, i'm hoping my vette ones work for me.If not ,I'm thinking of ordering the hedman headers.

did you get it in yet? Loosen your motor mount bolts on the frame pads, they are slotted to slide back and forth.

you have to change that shifter shaft, or your prop shaft will not fit.

98' f-body non cast manifolds should fit. They fit with the turbotime mounts on my ty
