He guys, A little back ground my built 700R4 started slipping this summer and after seeing 2 others in buddies truck pile up i decided i did not want to be building it every year and a half, I picked up a 4L80E today from a 02 silverado, the guy said it has 37000 km on a rebuild for 650,i think this is a pretty decent price, i plan on still opening it up and going through it, i am looking for input or advise for those of you that have done it or are in the process i have searched and come up with this list, please tell me what you think,

So far my list is
2001 or newer 4L80E
80E converter (uncertain on spec)
32 spline transfer case input shaft
rpm 80E crossmember
rpm 80E shifter cable and linkage
rpm trans to transfer case adapter
tci trans controller
wiring Harness
Adjust driveshaft length as required??

Thanks
Matt

How much of a difference in the front driveshaft do you need? If it is a small amount you might be able to get away with a Dynotech HD front driveshaft with the slip spline, then you wouldn't have to do any cutting/balancing. I just got my 700R4 rebuilt and I had to replace the front driveshaft as the boot was torn. The new one is amazing (no rubber, extra thick walls) and Dynotech was the original propshaft builder back in the day so I know it would fit. $500US shipped to Calgary.

If I ever have trouble in the future I'll probably follow what your doing. In the meantime my rebuilt 700R4 is working nicely! Its a strip/street build so we'll see how it holds up next year.

I paid $200.00 for my 80e tranny. Was from a 2001 4x4. I have a 3000 stall, but I have the ls swap also.It doesn't take long to hit a couple grand doing that swap that your doing.

Lokar firewall mount dip stick

Also you can use the stock shift cable if you want. Make sure you get a shorter shaft for the shifter arm or cut the stock on down
