Trans line fitting leaking at the trans

Trying to stop a drip, coming from the lines at the trans. Is using Teflon tape on them ok? Or should I remove the lines, reseat them and tighten down? Also how tight to go on these?

Depends on the fitting. A flair fitting does not use sealant. (Teflon) If it's leaking at a flair fitting it's probably a crack at the flair. I can't remember the exact fitting style at the trans. I believe the tube fitting is an inverted flair. Doesn't matter. To find a crack you'll have to gain access and examine the flair closely. It may not be initially obvious.

I found that article yesterday. Read the part about adding sealant to the fittings going into the case. He says you'll crack the case when you tighten them down.

Those are inverted flair fittings. To be 100% sure I have to see them but where they screw into the case looks like it's a pipe fitting. Personally I don't use Teflon tape on anything. Locktite makes a much better product. I would use a sealant on those threads. Sealant doesn't crack the case, over-tightening does.

So a little sealant on the fitting where it goes into the case, don't over-tighten. Inspect the flair on the line for cracks. If none, assemble without sealant. Not required and wouldn't help anyway. Careful to not cross-thread and you should have a connection that doesn't leak.
