Brian Hartman recommends to use an aux. filter which you can buy from summit, they have an extra hole for a sensor. It looks just like the oil filter relocation your truck has now. Hartman say if you put it in the pan by the time you see a high enough temp in the pan that the trans is already cooked. Anyway it is cheap ($30) and gives you more filtering capacity. Good luck.

I constructed a brass tee contraption with two barbed nipples on either end and the temp sensor probe poking down into the fluid stream....installed it on trans out line between trans and B&M cooler. I find that its very responsive to temp changes and likely a closer to true representation of how bad the heat in the kitchen really is.

I have the remote transmission filter by Summit and I am pleased with it. You can check it out here: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=4479 Only $28.69 sans shipping and handling. I mounted my temperature sender in the housing and set my gauge to warn me when the temperature exceeds 220 degrees. I have the SPA Design gauges and the sender *just* fit between the the brass barbs for the hoses. I had about 1/16 of an inch clearance. Not sure how big the senders for the Autometer gauges are so, you may have a fitament issue. You can just see my remote transmission filter under my air filter here: http://www.chitownsyty.com/gallery/view_photo.php?set_albumName=2932&id=aaj HTH's

Hey Mike,
Where did you get that fitting for the tranny line where it comes out of the top of the stock cooler? I need to get one to clean up my install.
Also, did you cut the return line or just rebend it? As before, want to clean things up but don't really want to "experiment" anymore doing something that will burn up my fluid by restricting its flow.
Many thanks,
George Blake
PS:Finally got my grill back in. I actually looks good(took a little grill grindage). Never thought I'd be able to fit a 10" electric fan in front of the huge auxillary cooler and still keep them mounted away from the AC condensor.

Remote filter kit doesn't fit well in the old location?
Wouldn't mind mounting it exactly where it was...
It's in my "Shopping Cart" right now.

Hello George! I got my 90 degree close transmission fitting from Mike Lee at http://www.arautosports.com/ when I couldn't find them anywhere locally. I remember Josh B. (goes by CLONE on the BB) from PA telling you he would get you some if you gave him your mailing address. Dunno, maybe you guys forgot about each other... Fortunately for him there is an auto parts store a few miles away that has those fittings.

Yup, when I did my remote filter and cooler I got "crazy" with the mini tubing cutter and flaring tool :p . I have one of those 90 degree close fittings on both my supply line and return line. I had to cut the return line because it was going to be right where my air intake now sits...

Glad to hear that your truck is getting back together :D ! As a matter of fact, I have one of those 90 degree close fittings on my daily driven S10 that I bought at that auto parts store near Josh. I put a tranny cooler in and managed to NOT cut any of the lines. Plenty room in a 2.8 engine compartment. However, I had to grind off some of the grill on the backside to get it back on. Nothing is ever as easy as it looks... HTH's

Thanks!! I just e-mailed Josh. I had completely forgot about talking to him about that. The fittings are on back order everywhere I've looked so I can't buy one now anyway.
Still working out bugs.....
If I haven't told you, cool truck. Yours gave me lots of ideas for mine.
