Transmission identification

Syty Killer :(
I can't match this up to anything I found online. It has the syty output shaft from what I can tell. But this number makes no sense by any of the GM transmissions. It's also in really good shape. My other 700r4 was much harder to see with more corrosion

Re: Transmission identification

This is a 1988, but it looks like a "re-stamp" from the picture here. Have you dropped the pan yet? Looked at the governor? Look at the valve body shift sleeves and see what the numbers and or letters are. Start from the outside edge of the valve body with the 1-2 shift valve sleeve, what is the ID? Next the 2-3 shift valve sleeve, what is the ID? And then the 3-4 shift valve sleeve, what is the ID? With the type of governor and the shift valve ID's I should be able to tell you what it is out of. It is possible that whoever built this transmission used the parts out of a Sy/Ty transmission, especially if he broke the original case. Let me know if I can be of help here? Dana

Re: Transmission identification

I hadn't dropped the pan yet. I only get out in the garage every other weekend. I planned to call you when I got it apart. Being that the driveline was supposedly out of a wrecked Ty it's hard telling what's been done. So far this clone has been a mix of at least 3 vehicles. If I can find it with the engine installed I still need to check the numbers on the block too.

My rebuild kit came yesterday but the output shaft won't be back from cryo until next week. Depending on how far I get on the rest of the truck I may start tearing it down.
