shift solenoid B was giving very funky readings...and based on my research and the shifting...seemed like it was the culprit anyway. So that pretty much verified that Shift Solenoid B needs to be replaced. Shift Solenoid A was giving higher than normal readings (resistance/ohm) so i'm replacing that too. Also, while it's apart...since it seems like whoever rebuilt the tranny reused the solenoids, i'm also having the TCC (torque convertor obv.) and EPC (line pressure) solenoids replaced since it won't really cost anything extra besides parts.

Monday morning will be the deciding day...i'll be there at 8am when the place opens prolly to watch/take pics of the inside...and to grab the sol's that get replaced. Then hopefully i'll take it for a spin and see how OD feels for the first time. :tup:

10:1 can be boosted, just not 27 psi like a 8.5 motor could.

I am running 9.6 or so.... 6psi feels like 20 in a syty though.

I've seen 10:1+ compression motors running 20+ psi.
You need to know what you're doing with chamber configuration and tune, however.

Very nice Mike, I'm assuming this'll will be the one from your stable making the trip to NATS? I was hoping to see how the primer one was coming along....not anymore. The underside looks super clean.

I sold the primer Ty last February...it resides in FL (for now anyway..heh)


And yea...i'm desperatly trying to chase down a tranny not shifting into OD issue. Hoping i don't need to rebuild it...but i've already replaced all the solenoids in it, but still hasn't started working. :tdown: Tryin like hell to get OD to work so i don't have to trailer it to NATS.

Check your wiring and maybe even call Big Stuff 3 tech line about it. Can you get the torque converter to lock up at all? Maybe you are already in 4th and do not know it.

it's definitely not in 4th. I'm seeing 3k rpms at 55mph.

It does it w/o BS3 connected to it also. Using an AAMCO control box with push button shifting...connected directly to the tranny i get the same results.

BS3...when the tranny physically shifts into 2nd...BS3 shows 3rd. Physically in 3rd shows 4th on the laptop.

With the AAMCO box...when you call for 3rd gear its like i'm in neutral. When you call for 4th, it shifts into 3rd.


Replaced the Shift Solenoid A, shift Solenoid B, TCC Solenoid, and EPC solenoid this morning, and problem still occurred. Next up is the internal wiring harness and the PSM switch - ordered those today hopefully...gotta call them and confirm that they ordered them.
