A couple of people at the CanNats were asking me about who I used to get my Syclone appraised. The name of the place is Appreciated Vehicle Appraisal Group (www.avagroup.ca), formerly Appreciated Automobile Appraisals. They are based out of Edmonton with about 9 guys now doing appraisals all over Alberta.
I got it done last fall, but I can't remember how much it costs. You get two glossy reports, one for you and one for your insurance company, complete with a detailed description of the vehicle, pictures, a research report and a letter to the insurance company with the stated value of the truck. Without this I doubt your insurance company would give you more then $3K in a write-off, they just don't understand the difference between SyTys and an S10/Jimmy. Of course, be prepared to pay a little more for insurance!
