I was looking at this part that is attached to the drivers fender well but can't see enough to tell what it is. Looks like a pump of some kind to me.

Thanks. Couldnt see the label well enough or any other marking on it.

The sticker is a worn-off ATR decal.

You probably have an additional heat exchanger in front of the Rad?

Re: What is this?

looks just like my old atr pump. Would guess it is because all the other atr stuff your truck had/has.

Re: What is this?

how can you stand such a filthy engine bay w/ your fresh paint!? Buy yourself a can of engine degreaser and empty it in your engine bay...rinse w/ a hose. Takes 0 effort and will make the thing look soooo much better.

what can't you get water on besides the alternator?

Re: What is this?

you should keep it away from the alt, injectors, iac, and tps. I usually just dowse everything and just let it try before running it. Or hit the sensitive things w/ wd40 before startup.

I think as long as you don't drown anything you are good. You obviously don't need to degrease the alternator and keep water away from the intake. I have rinsed my engine before and not covered anything. I just try to spray water on the stuff that's dirty that I prep with degreaser.

Re: What is this?

Its a Surflo water pump for your IC. It flows more water than the OE pump. You can get them anywhere you buy RV parts. ATR also sold them as an upgrade.

Yeah its got the ATR lower cooler.

I havent tried to clean it yet with anything besides a little water. Just use some degreaser? Do I just scrub and rinse it off with a hose? I never really did too much because I didnt know what all to stay away from besides the alt, battery and distributor.

Re: What is this?

Looks like it would be alot easier if you pulled your inner fenders out to clean them/repaint them. That would make things 100 times easier to clean.

Re: What is this?

Whatever doesn't work after you got it wet needed to be replaced anyways. Degrease and spray away... Jst kidding of course, but I've never had much trouble getting anything wet besides the distributor. Get busy with the pressure washer and then change the cap and rotor right away. Or just keep water away, but how much fun is that?

lol I just replaced plugs cap and rotor 3 weeks ago. I got some degreaser so I'll go at it tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Re: What is this?

Just get some placstic bags and large rubber bands. Bag off the dist, alt or anything you think should not get wet. Get a cheap toilet brush. Spray the engine. Scrub the crap out of it. Hose it off. I would remove the bags and let it sit for a day or to just in case.
