AirCon died

No cold air from the vents. Compressor not engaging. Luckily I have a case of R12 in the garage. Gotta find a way to throw a can or so in and see if it is just low. BOOO. It's getting hot fast here in the desert too.

Re: AirCon died

Apparently all electrical connections are important. I found the connector on the drier not fully locked in. It looked like it was seated, but wasn't. Apparently I must have disconnected it wheen bleeding intercooler system. My IC lines are routed behind the drier, line coming from the AC box. I seem to remember messing with stuff in there when I did that job. Must have just not fully clipped that connector on. Luckily I didn't start adding refrigerant, or replacing parts. COLD AC AGAIN!!!

Would you want to share some of that r12? I wouldn't mind putting a can or two on the shelf for safe keeping.

Don't know about any shipping regulations for something like this. Pressurized cans of stuff, Hazmat, licenses... I am betting the US Mail, FedEx, and UPS require something weird.

Dave. Yes it's a 1993. Thanks for the heads up on the switch issue. Something else to worry about

I wouldn't try it it:

A: You can only ship it via ground, so you have to abide by their regulations.

B: The buyer has to have a EPA Section 609 certification to receive it.

Quote:
1. Who can purchase refrigerant?
Federal Law provides that ONLY the following can purchase refrigerants:
Certified Refrigerant Technicians approved by the E.P.A. under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act.
Purchasers of refrigerant for resale to a Certified Refrigerant Technician.
Automotive Certified Refrigerant Technicians approved by the E.P.A. under Section 609 of the Clean Air Act (R-12 only).

2. Do all purchasers need to be licensed?
No, purchasers of R-134a, R-410A, R-404A and refrigerant supplies do not need a license. However purchasers in Wisconsin must have a license or re-sell certificate to purchase any refrigerant and may not purchase containers smaller than 15 pounds even with a license.
Too much effort.

Re: AirCon died

The 609 certification is a $20 open book online test, very easy. Or the buyer can send the seller a letter stating that the R-12 will be purchased for resale only. Not sure if anyone would ever come by and check to make sure you did not use it.
