Re: Homecoming Suggestions for 2012

The more you add to the event the more the cost . In this economy it may restrict people from attending . We were pleased with how it turned out .

Re: Homecoming Suggestions for 2012

I did mention A poker run for the 2008 home coming, but never happened. That would be fun, I will make sure the grass is mowed for 2012 both Hotel & Tony's place. Ya we did not have name tags did we? Will have to follow up on that in 2012. What about Fri. night going to Toledo to the big hot rod hangout spot at A really good Pizza place, Get the around 9pm. cars show up at 11pm..

  • Group event friday night: mini golf, cruise, poker run, photo shoots, parking lot events.....something. Enough people show up friday afternoon/night to warrant doing something. Plus something occurring will make more people want to show up friday night instead of saturday only

  • name tags - makes life way easier when you can't remember 50 people's names like me.

  • saturday morning event similar to friday night above....gives vendors/committee time to setup for the show portion and keeps the trucks away from the lot.

  • show: preconceived parking map / instructions / leaders....i'm anal about liking to see trucks lined up straight and all backed in to their spots...plus it just makes for much better picture opportunities when trucks aren't every which way.

  • show: awards voting....the "furthest travelled" isn't something to vote for, shoulda just been a question of how far you drove

  • registration packets: baggies of stuff prepackaged ahead of time is a pain in the butt but works wonders

  • parking in grass: lets line up straight and evenly spaced for better pictures. Maybe paint some markers in the grass

Re: Homecoming Suggestions for 2012

I didn't go this year because the ty is torn apart, but when I went to corvette events, there are a few things, and I think that you guys are on the right track!
For hoses for ty/sy washing, I am sure someone wouldn't mind bringing one with their tow vehicle
The parking map with people listed and trucks listed is a great idea. If a group is coming in together, have them park together
Name tags (I suck at remembering names, with their screen name too!)
Goody bag isn't necessary. More crap to put in the truck!
Just like at car shows, all of it ends up in the garbage.
A little fee for each person I don't think is bad. I would pay $10 to go and get some stuff so it doesn't come out of someones pocket.

THis is a great community, and I can't wait until the next NATS in the center of the country!

Re: Homecoming Suggestions for 2012

You guys do such a great job with this event. I just wanted to say Thanks for the past homecomings, and for the future ones. Great job!

I loved having the itinerary, the map, contact info, the whole packet. I thought that was very useful.

We are still working on the location, paperwork and legals and such. It will be southeast Michigan.

Ironic, in 2004 I picked up my SY in SE Michigan & drove it home. The guy picked me up at the airport in it. An awesome day!
