Re: Engine shipping

Don't you think it would cost less to take it there in the bed of a truck. $600 each way buys a lot of gas? I have shipped engines before, you need to build pallet a lot stronger plus build a box around the engine and brace it very good. When it is on the loading dock they don't pick it up they push it around with a fork lift, just a word to the wise

Re: Engine shipping

I have thought about that. Its 1300 miles away. Probably 24 hours of driving one way. I dont have a truck to haul it in. I could rent one, but that costs $$$. Say you get 20 mpg in a truck average @ $4 a gallon. There and back is $520 dollars in gas. Then you’re going to have to pay to spend the night somewhere twice. Unless you took a buddy with you and split the driving. I don’t have a buddy that has that sort of time to commit. I also do not have 48 hours of time to commit because I have a 8 month old daughter that needs to be watched when mom goes to work. I could take her to daycare but that cost more money. So the answer is no. It’s not really much cheaper. I do plan on boxing it in. If they break it they pay for it. It will be insured.

Re: Engine shipping

Yeah, I might send it this month. Lots of prep. I still have to drop the fuel tank and order AN hose and fittings for my doulbe pumper setup. It would just be nice to get a tune on my exact fuel system.
