Changes for 2012

With the new year comes a new build. As I was completing the last build, I had already come to peace with swapping a SBC should the V6 fail. It is simply a costing justification - I can build a stout V8 for less than an equivalent V6.

The V6 was parted out, some parts were salvaged and the rest were sold to do this build. It started out life as a 10.4:1 383ci SBC. It is an 010 GM block (stock GM, four-bolt mains) with an Eagle crank and rods. Everything else was replaced. A little info on the build:

GM 010 Block, baked, shot-peened, align-hone, honed,
All new bearings, plugs, etc
Melling oil pump with welded pickup
ARP main studs, rod bolts, and head studs
Custom Diamond pistons, Total Seal rings (9.5:1)
Custom Bullet Cam, solid roller lifters, 1.5 rockers, guideplates, ARP rocker studs
Dart PRO1 heads with 2.02/1.60 valves, PAC springs, 7* locks, retainers, etc
Innovators West balancer
Torker II intake modified for fuel injection (120# injectors), custom fuel rails
Bullseye Power T4 75mm BatMoWheel

Re: Changes for 2012

damn, no shit...

funny that after all you made great timeslips on a budget. not to many expensive parts, just proving your right on what you choose for..

Now a V8..

either way i got mucho respect for you and your build altough seeing you pushing the limits of relativly cheap builds, i think it's a loss for the syty people for going fast on a v6 with a budget...

Good luck, and wish you a Awesome Fast Typhoon!

Re: Changes for 2012

its just a play motor for this year. I can't push this block as far as I would like to. Once this combo is built, I will begin buying parts for the next build. Once I am through with this motor, it all comes out and gets installed in my buddy's 65 GTO project.

Still waiting for headers to arrive...then modify them for turbo, mount the last little things, and make a few pulls.

Re: Changes for 2012

looks nice! I like the fabbed valve covers. what headers are you starting with to modify, curious how your routing them to work in the typhoon for a single setup..

That beast is going to have some torque. Those 383 stroker motors are great. You will like it.

Re: Changes for 2012

Considering what the V6 made (800# by 3400), this should be peppy!
