Group purchase Torsen type front limited slip differential - COLLECTING DEPOSITS

CRISPY
I am partnering with a company to produce a run of ten Torsen type front limited slip differential.

In this partnership I would need to start with an initial run of ten differentials.

I was hoping that there would be some interest in these. No one currently makes this type of differential. So it needs to be engineered and then produced with the unit taking at least 4 months for production.

The reason that these need to be made is that the only options for our front diff are not made for racing. They were made for off roading.

Please post your interest at an initial cost of $700 per unit!

There was a little confusion on pricing. I will try to clarify.

$700 gets a cryogenic treated front torsen carrier.

$1400 gets you a front diff completely assembled with the torsen carrier, new bearings and seals and setup correctly with cryogenic treated shaft. There is a $200 core charge.

So I am starting a list:
Can you let me know of your desire to have just the complete carrier or an exchange unit or an outright unit.

Right now all of the deposits will be sent directly to the manufacturer for the creation of the carrier. Not until later in the process will we start collecting additional for those that want the complete unit, or exchange units.

What is this all going to entail? A complete assembly or just the ring and pinion ,carrier bearings etc.?

Interested, but would like to know what it all is. Entire unit or just the guts.

Re: Group purchase Torsen type front limited slip differential

Aaron and I are getting these built, they are a complete carrier and if any of you guys want a complete front unit built I can do that also.... Exchange or do yours complete with cryo treatment.

And just so you all know I built the front and rear in my truck( stock units ) and have Never broke either of them, I have been setting up gears since I was in high school and have machined specialty tools to do the best job possible.

They said it would be roughly 4 months and 10 units minimum.

Ask any and all questions so no one feels disappointed in the end.

Thanks

A little off topic, but,, what front diff unit was in Andrew's Ty when he raced it @ KC & it would not launch straight & almost went into the side rail?

Probably that Aussie locker.... That's why I'm going with a limited slip. If you have ever seen a axle break with a locker it would be bad in the front.

Re: Group purchase Torsen type front limited slip differential

the VW market loves the Peloquin brand torsen style diffs. There are actually a bunch of animated videos on youtube that explain/show how they work, much different than a locker or an LSD.

Most of the reviews I have read from VW owners say they don't notice any difference, even when doing auto-x, and I have to assume straight line performance would be improved greatly since they are wrong wheel drive to begin with.

My comment is the same as Captan Morgan. I'd be leaning on the side of an exchange of a fully built unit.

Re: Group purchase Torsen type front limited slip differential

This is what I'm thinking,

1 ea. unit 600.00 plus trip
1 complete cryoed, new bearings and seals setup 1200.00 plus trip
1 complete same as above but exchanged 1100.00 plus trip

I am cryoing all the units themselves when I receive them before I ship!

That includes half shafts and cryoing of them

Re: Group purchase Torsen type front limited slip differential

We have been discussing an exchange program but it will increase the cost and the time that it will take. I don't know the exact cost of an exchange program would be but it looks like John has some estimates...

We would need half down and the understanding that these will take 4 months to be made. I am excited that this may actually happen!

I see 6 people so far
