Reflecting back on Nats X

I Glow Therefore I am
First off for those of you that don't know, Matt and I drove 1,800 miles in approx. 25 hours each way to reach Nats X. Why you might ask, in hell would you do that? Well I heard that Nats was bar none one of the coolest gatherings that a SyTy lover could go to, I wasn't let down in any way, shape, or form.

Thursday:
As far as I know 3 of us drivers received speeding tickets on the way there, I was one of those fortunate few. :squint: 87 in a 70, which was a far cry from the previous speeds we were traveling at. I was even happier when I expected a $200-$300 dollar ticket and got a $125

Ok on to the good stuff. As far as I can remember when we pulled up there was only a few people there and we got out of the truck never meeting any of them and totally felt welcome. I know I meet Renz very shortly after that, because he came running up like a little kid, "check out the pic of this golf cart I rolled over!" :rotf: After that I knew this weekend was gonna be a blast.

For the next couple hours we just unloaded and kept meeting cool people after cool people and seeing lots of awsome trucks.

Way late into the night 2AM maybe, Renz, Smaug, and Danielle asked if I wanted to go to the casino, sure I'm game. Which it was awsome that they would even ask since I just had just meet them. Then it started pouring rain on the way there and that p.o.s. of a rental car they gave Smaug could bearly keep from hydroplaning on the way there. As others have stated my Black Jack ability was less then decent that night, well I'll just blame Renz, because this is my thread and I can

What they did leave out was our leaving the casino, first I was so preoccupied with this HOT girl that I left the elevator not realizing that anyone was behind me or that I was on the wrong floor.

Then we proceeded to thrash the crap out of the rental car. That thing was such a turd it wouldn't even burn out in the pouring rain. :rotf: Hey Smaug remember red lights in KS, mean stop as much as they do in NJ  Then the lady in the Dodge pickup decides to spin out right in front of us, smack a curb, and need a 6 point turn to get straightened out. Also the Chinese field trip comes into play here, but I'm gonna draw a blank on why ;)

Then we head back to hotel, get almost to door and decided that we were hungry and want Denny's, we as Renz orders the most disgusting milk shake I've ever seen, and Danielle's turrets syndrome kicked in :rotf: Anyway after that we went back at about 5-6AM and went to bed.

Friday:

I got up after 3 hours of sleep to see if anyone was up, because I wasn't gonna miss any action! To my surprise Renz was up and running, so I thought hey if he's up I gotta get up :) Friday not alot happened, just hung out and tried to meet as many people as I could and see every truck.

Big thanx to Z-Mann and Frank from Autoaddictions for the help in getting the bike up and back together!

Friday night was the first real time I got to see Rodney in action.

Rodney you had me laughing my ass off the whole night man

Later that night Z-mann, Rodney, Lisa, Renz, Dabney, Marlon, and myself went to IHOP, where Rodney in a wonderful alcohol indused state deceided to yell to everyone in the resturant as we walked in that he loves vagina, that pretty much set the mood for the whole dining experience

Then there's Z-mann's mad pick up skillz, no worries bro she had to be gay, there's no way a straight girl could turn you down  Went to bed again about 4-5AM.

Saturday:

Woke up again at 8-9AM, no need for sleep there's stuff I'm gonna miss out there. Lots and lots of racing.

Everyone got to see my mad skillz as I killed one of the bikes on the starting line the first run out cause my feet stuck to the track surface  I even heard Renz laughing at me with my helmet on :rotf:

Then there's the BBQ lady, what else can you say about her :D We did almost get 86'd out of the place when we sat in a reserved section that we ASS-U-ME d was reserved for us, I mean come on were SyTy people why wouldn't it be.

On the way back to the hotel Matt deceided to fill the up the entire underneith of the over pass with smoke as he burned the tires on the Ford right behind Smaug. Then Smaug showed us up with a nice 50+ mph E-brake slide :rotf:

Then that night there was some BS about some of us dumbass morons stupid enough to eat some rotton ass fish, yes it tastes as bad as it smells and Vinny must have been born without taste buds or a sence of smell :rotf: Big up to Jabber for being the only other one as stupid as me to eat that crap

That night there was alot going on, in case none of you ever had seen Jeremy's truck in action, yes it does AWD doughnuts.

Sunday was pretty somber, saying goodbye's and thinking about the long drive home.

DSC00092.jpg

We did win an awsome SyTy sweater which I'm not sure what to do with yet since it's about a 105* here and a sickazz diamond plate CC braket that I don't have CC for, but I really think I'll put it back on just for that

Thanx to Lisa for making the trip it was great to finally meet you, you're a very great, strong, wonderful woman and the SyTy world is great for having you around.

Another special thanx to Mr. Jeremy Duncan for scaring the crap out of Matt! Thanx to you all he runs around sayin now is, " Hold on, we're comin in hot!" To those that don't know that's in reference to them outrunning a sercurity gaurd trying to catch Jeremy all night as he gave out rides

Big thanx to George Blake for bringing my transmission kit and saving me much mulah in shipping also spending atleast a good hour plus some talking with me

Dave it was very cool getting to meet you and spending all the time we did BSing sbout everything.

All the JSM crew, Paul, Austin, Morgan, Joe, Jimmy, Vinny, Bdubb, Typhool, Jason, Rich.

I know I'm leaving more people out and more stories, there's just sooo many for those I missed I do appolgize it's not intentional just so much to take in.

Thank you everyone for making Nats X as awsome as it was. There may not have been as many trucks as there were at past events, but damn was it a good time :woot:

Thanks again for coming out. 20+ hrs one way is hard core. Glad Matt enjoyed the ride, he didn't say much, so I wasn't sure if I scared the hell out him or he was just unimpressed.

No worries Jimmy, so do I, I'm glad I remembered as many as I did. Matt has a damn near photographic memory though, he remembered almost everyone's name and who's truck was who's and he's never even been on the forum.

I am Roy, the badass unshaven guy, with tattoo's, that Renz kept following around all weekend tring to pick up on, No means No

Mike what can I say, the event woulodn't be the same without you. Your personality is damn near worth the drive by itself. Thanx for making us feel as welcome as you did and thank you for all the hardwork you and others put in behind the sceens to make everything work.

No he was impressed, I think the doughnuts did it for him though, all he kept talking about on the ride home was A.) your impectable driving skills, and B.) how cool it was to do an AWD doughnut, he's like "you just sit there in one spot and don't go anywhere, it's crazy!"

"Hold on, we're comin in hot!"--In the Dunc's awsome southern accent ;)

Don't worry, I'm prone to making an ass of myself n public, so killing a bike on the line in front of a hundred people is just another day in the life of me.

Vinny, it was awsome hanging out with you, you have a way of telling stories that makes a person feel like they're actually there. Your definitely a great personality to have around Nats and I really look forward to seeing you again next year, along with all your CF projects.

I think this is the thing most on the board that have not been to nats don't understand until you arrive. It is like a group of long time friends, even though some we just met, other we met several years back.

Keys to trucks are thrown around, stories swapped, jokes played on people all in great fun.

I think this year we had similar # of people even though actual truck count was down. The fun factor though I will say was as good this year as ever.

The Nats organizers will hate me for saying this, but taking a truck to Nats is a bit like bringing a 3 yr old:

You're constantly watching it to make sure nobody messes with it or it gets away.

You're constantly cleaning it.

You're cleaning up after it when it has broken something.

You have to get it to go home when it doesn't want to.

I somewhat prefer being truckless... kind of a cop out, but it's sometimes nicer.

Wish I coulda gone this year.... I hate to miss.

Re: Reflecting back on Nats X

It was good to meet you guys Roy.

Those bikes were a nice break at the track.

of course we all wanted to see your Sy out there but hey at least YOU made it!

Think of all these other posers that didn't bother.

Most people who never go have no clue what they are missing.
There is nothing we can type here or post pics of that replace those long nights of rambling in the parking lot, the freeway blasts on the way to the track, Dennys/Ihop/Hooters experiences that leave the locals speechless I am sure.

You had a very good experience for a first timer.
Now gather up your locals and represent in numbers next year!
You've got 11.5 months to figure it out.

Roy I'm impressed that you knew my name, I don't exactly throw it around. I'm even more impressed with the 3,500+ mile (nearly) cross country trek to get to Nats. If you go next year, and trailer a SyTy, are you going to take the bikes along too?

Thanks Everybody, NATS Was a blast. I finally got the rubber or track off my hands and face last night. I know what you mean about sticking to the surface. What was the pick up line that got ZMann rejected? At least she didn't give you this phone #612/232-1638. It the rejection hotline, no joke. My buddy got this # last night. So he goes to call her on the way home in the car, puts it on speaker phone, and we just about died. Enjoy. I was also told that that number works in just about every area code, just haven't tried it.

Well I'm considering driving the Sy, gotta get atleast longest drove for one year. I think the only way I'll fell comfortable driving that far and beating on truck is if I get the 4L80e in there first and some vette seats. In that case, I might hall one of the bikes in the Sy.

Well see...
