I haven't tried them personally, Ive been researching tires for my moms car for about a week or so, I was going to go with those but I found some more reviews that have me thinking otherwise, so scratch those for now.
I run BFG Traction TA's on my Celica, they do pretty well for me and I definitely put them through their paces.
Ive run Dunlop SP8000's on my Typhoon, they have been good tire, but not a great tire.
The Goodyear Eagle GT was another tire I was leaning towards for my moms car, seems to have good ratings overall and not overpriced.
But I haven't picked anything 100% just yet.

I'm with DaveP on this one. I think that's the tire I've got on the Ty. Great traction in the rain, snow, whatever. Quieter than the Firehawks my sawblades came with.

But some reviews I've read weren't very optimistic, sidewall splits, bad wet traction) I've been real pleased with the Cooper GTZ, it looks like the Cooper Zeon series replaced them. I dunno, i just CAN"T see anything with Yokahama, Sumitro, ect on my Ty. Got to be an American made/name company

G force kdws o my stockers and my 17's. They are a very good dry and wet tire. First set I had was a night and day difference from comp t/a's (which was a good tire I thought). I would highly suggest them for any mild to wild performance vehicle.

DaveP, Thank you for the input! I do look at the threadwear rating numbers. I don't know what the original Firestone SVX number was, but if I got 25,000mi out of a set I was doing great, but those last 10,000 mi were a rough ride, lol.Back then the SVX were about $225/ea. Which comes back to directional tires as well, which are a PITA, so I prefer not to get directional. I like a beefier look on the rims too, way back when I tried the FTX Firestone, they looked too narrow on the rim. I'll research some more before I throw some on. I almost went with the KDWS last time, but changed my mind & got the Cooper's GTZ instead. I never had any problems with them.

I have had BFG Traction TA's on the Syclone for about 4 years now and I really like them. They are alot better then the stock Firestones or the Goodyears that I tried before. The traction in the rain is great. I will use them again. Stock size 245/50-16. Right now I have about 20,000 miles on them and it looks like they will go another 35,000 or 40,000 miles before replacing. They are cheap at Costco too.

I hope I didn't offend you, I just won't run a Japanese flagship tire on an American vehicle. The irony being that probably the American tires are being made overseas as well....

Jimmy, I was looking at the V4ES series in the Hankook, but are you running stock size? Some of the reviews were horrible though

I've driven them in snow,ice,and raced with them and no problems.

***News Flash*** for those with the BFG KDWS g-Force. These tires are on their way out, according to my local dealer. So if you have a fairly new set you may want to go ahead and look for a spare or 2 before they are totally discontinued!
All the tire dealers around here I called didn't like / advise the Hankook tires, even though they were a Hankook dealer. The Cooper ZPT is directional, and is an H rated tire. My choices are narrowing
And the winner is
I got the BFG Sport Z g-Force for $110/tire, which included mounting, balancing, lifetime rotation

I was in the same boat 2 weeks ago. I looked at many diffrent tires. I ended going with the firestone wide oval directional sport tire. I have put 500 miles on them so far and I'm very pleased. Regular price was about $115 per tire. Firestone was having "a pay what we pay" event. On top of that there was another discount on labor. I saved about $200.
In total I was under $500. This included a lifetime alignment. So far I'm very pleased.

Cool. Good Choice. :tup: You're going to be pleased.
For inflation pressure, try 31-32 front, 29-30 rear. Add about 2 psi, if the ambient temp when checking is <40º F. Add 2-3psi to the rear, if carrying cargo, or rear seat passengers on a highway trip. These pressures are a good compromise for wear, ride quality, handeling, and heat build-up. IMO, of course.
Did you go with 245, or 255s?
