Fuel tank question....

I am getting ready to replace the stock fuel pump with a Walbro unit on my stock Ty (59k miles). I have had 3 s10 Blazers in the past- 2 of them sprung leaks in the fuel tank. So I have decided to just replace the tank with a brand new unit while it is dropped and not have to worry about it (or the sludge that could be left in the old one).

Anyone know of a QUALITY aftermarket tank that they would recommend? There seem to be a few I have found online ranging from $62 to $130. I always feel better using OEM stuff, but in this case, I think the money saved in buying aftermarket may be worth it.

Thanks!

Re: Fuel tank question....

I bought a cheap one from ebay.. sprung a leak after a year. Thin junk metal! Must have got a stone in between the tank and the plastic cover and it wore a pin hole in the tank. I wish I left the stock one in! I had the same idea, it was out so might as wellchange it. Definitely look for a quality one.

i would think the one from lmc would be the way to go. i've been thinking about it but was going to get the smaller one.

i decided against the LMC one because they don't have the stock baffles inside. they may not do much but i would rather have them than not

Re: Fuel tank question....

If the cheesy bung for the fuel sending unit doesn't scare you, get a plastic one from MTS.

how did you like yours? any problems?

it does look very cheesy, and i would hate for the screws to strip out.

did yours have the baffles inside? are they really necessary? i would think so to help with fuel starvation on boost launch, wouldn't wanna go lean right on a launch

might be an option.

Re: Fuel tank question....

I got a quote on an actual OEM unit and they wanted over $400 for it!!
Seems that everyone is stocking the Spectra (Dorman) tanks. Any input on the Spectras good or bad?

Thanks!
