Problem with waller built trans. Wont go into over drive at highwat speeds!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a built waller transmission and the trans works perfectly in and around town. It runs right through all the gears but when I get on the highway it doesnt want to go into O.D. and when it does its only for a split second then it goes back into 3rd. My truck has a fast unit and it uses the b&m box to lock up the converter. Could the b&m box be causing the problem with the trans jumping back in forth while at high way speeds? Has anyone had this problem with there trans and if so what should I look for. Thnx.

You could try checking the brake switch for the TC lockup and make sure it's adjusted properly. Also be sure the TV cable is adjusted properly. I have a Waller trans and I love it, no issues so far and I have about 8k miles on it. Let us know what you find. Have you tried to talk to Waller? He's prety good wih advice and taking care of issues.

how do I check the brake switch for the tc lockup? I reset the tv cable and it was very hard to open the throttle blade hand. I thought that the cable was going to break. Anyways I set it and it seems to work fine.

how do I check the brake switch for the tc lockup?

On the brake pedal under the dash there are 2 switches. One activates the brake lights, the other is for the TC lockup. The bottom switch is for the TC lockup. Make sure it adjusted properly. The button on the switch should be depressed in when the pedal is in its resting position. Do a search, DaveP did a great write up about proper adjustment.

x3. also sometimes with a looser stall tc, the od feels like a shift, and when the gear in front of it is just ingaging and than goes to od. it feels like you could be missing a gear.
i got 2 built jw trannies, and i really like em.

First off thanks for everyone's input. The transmission doesnt want to stay in o.d. for more then a second when on the highway but in town its fine. kinda throwing me for a loop. I checked the switch under the dash after reading the article and it wasnt completely depressed so I adjusted it so that it's flush now. I will let you all know how it goes when I drive her tomorrow. My truck was doing the same thing as in the article. The rpm's would jump down by 300 rpms everytime I hit a bump(while on the highway) then it would quickly jump back up. I checked to see if it was actually in third by down shifting the truck into 3rd and it was. Would the switch keep the truck from going into O.D. ? Thanks again for everyone's help.

alright guys. I drove the truck after readjusting the switch under the pedal and the truck is just not going into 4th(O.D.) at highway speeds but it does go into O.D. when driving it in town. The linkage has got to be right because while driving in town I can down shift it into 3rd gear and back into 4th so I know thats working until I get up to highway speeds. Anyone have a clue on whats going on with this waller built trans? Thnx.

Didn't you call the builder to ask? That's what I would always do first.

truck shifts fine without any issues but when accelerating on the highway to get up to speed it never shifts back into O.D. Im lost on this one. Im guessing anything above 55mph is when it does it.

what indication do you have that its not in od? at 65 are your rpms too high? my Waller trans has been working great, the tc locks up HARD at 40 mph on the button,everytime..feels like another gear. above 40 the tc will lock/unlock depending on throttle position, rpm & mph. the tc lock up can mess with your head if you dont know how it operates,i.e. locks/unlocks. you could be feeling it lock/unlock,as apposed to it jumping from 3rd to 4th.
soo...at highway speeds, say 65,what are you pulling for rpms?

Does it do it when you are accelerating in 4th or just driving on the HWY? I have a waller trans also. Mine keeps trying to downshift back into 3rd or slipping at around 100 at WOT. My TV cable is set right. I have no clue what is wrong with it. Other shifts feel good.

i had a similar problem with a 700, i took it in to a trans shop to have it looked at and they said it had some sort of governor on it. I dunno, but at 4400 rpms it would downshift into 3rd from 4th and re-upshift, and back down continually until i let up. but that was a while ago,i didnt know squat about trannys. still dont.
