New Guy from Illinois

Hello all SyTy owners. I'm in the process of buying a 93 Typhoon for my son. It needs abit of work, but I've surely seen worse. Tranny is bad and a small/medum tree fell on it about 3 weeks ago. It's going to be one of those father/son projects. Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I was looking for the number that the truck is but didn't have any luck finding it. I looked in the door jams, glove box and under the hood, but no luck. Where is the production number located and what is the little switch that is located in the glove box. Thanks in Advance.

Re: New Guy from Illinois

From what I understand there technically isn't an official production #. Everyone seems to go by the last 4 of the VIN. Post it up along with some pics

Re: New Guy from Illinois

Production number is generally accepted to be the last 4 digits of the VIN, the plate is found in the lower left corner of the windshied. As far as the little switch....is it on the left side? It might be the one that activates/deactivated the glovebox light.

Yeah everyone uses the last 4 digit for Typhoons. For Syclone the last 4 digits is the production number and they were basically built sequentially. Typhoon weren't built in order and PAS would send the new owner a certificate with a Sequence number. Most Typhoon owners don't have the sequence number though, so its just easier to use the last 4 of the VIN.

As far as I'm aware there were no switches in the glovebox from the factory sounds like maybe a previous owner installed a kill switch, but that's just a guess.

Re: New Guy from Illinois

I recall looking at the vin, seems like last four were 1005. I have located a rust free/dent free top off of a 91 2 door Blazer at my local junk yard. Also found a reputable body shop that will remove the damaged top and weld in the new top for $500.

I'm sure I could part this thing out and make a few grand pretty easily but I have decided that we should do this truck justice and bring her back to her once proud state.

It's gonna be a long ride, hopefully an enjoyable one. I'll try to get pics of the Typhoon in her current state and update everyone as we progress.
