Tranny bolts

I need all 6 of the tranny bolts that attach the tranny to the engine. For some reason I cant find them.. Prefer if they are new, but used and in good shape(meaning no cross threads, bent, stripped threads..) will work too.

If you know part numbers and I can get them from the steelership then that'd be just as helpful

Re: Tranny bolts

why not just pick up some grade 8 3/8-16 bolts, better than what the stealer ship would provide.

Re: Tranny bolts

I had a problem similar to this when I was looking for leaf spring grade 8 bolts, the hardware stores around here only have very limited stuff. None of which look, or feel like the stock stuff.. Which makes me very iffy of using the bolts they sell.. :dunno:

I could possibly find the smaller(shorter) bolts, but the longer one will be pretty impossible to get. I don't mind paying a little more for the correct bolt when I cant get a good one ya know.

3/8-16 grade 8, throw some loctite on for good measure.

I think only 1 long bolt for brace, any hardware store should have this, even lowes/home depot

Re: Tranny bolts

I am kinda curious as to the actual factory bolts... mine's been in and out sooo many times, none of the original stuff is in place. More of a "correctness" thing than just what works.

Yep, the one for the propshaft brace it is 4.5 inches long. The others are 1.5 inches long with two being studs for the downpipe. They are all SAE, 3/8" X 16 pitch.

Re: Tranny bolts

Well, I *may* be making a trip down to Southern Ohio Friday to pick up some more propshaft bolts. I could prolly pick you up some replacements if you aren't in a hurry...

I'm heading out in the morning, it'll be a brisk 160+ mile round trip... PM me your mailing address so that I can get you a Priority Mail box ready. That will be $4.60 by itself, unless you don't want them shipped that way.

That would actually be great if you could. Just to keep some good info in here for a search.

Re: Tranny bolts

The long bolt is a p/n'd bolt. I had to buy 5 of them to get the right thing. If I look hard enough, I should be able to find three of them in my stuff. Let me know if you want me to look.

Just got back from my 225 mile joyride. Apparently so because the industrial fastener warehouse where I get my propshaft bolts didn't have a flanged hex head 4.5 inches long. The longest one that they had was a 3.5 inch one. They had a regular hex head hardended bolt in the length that I needed so I got one of those and a hardened washer for it. That bolt has a zinc coating on it whereas the other five flanged hex heads have a black oxide finish. I ship everything via USPS in a flat rate Priority mailer. Price to ship these will be $4.60. Remit $10 and I will ship them out.

I got a pic today of that *small* nut that they have on the parts counter:

I can only imagine how much the wrench that is used to turn it must cost...

Re: Tranny bolts

Mike I PM'ed you and Adam. :)

If anyone has the actual part numbers to all of these bolts that would be great for this thread. In case others are trying to find this long bolt and can not find it. ;)
