The modding begins!

Looking for 12's
Just picked up my new Sy last month and have been collecting parts to ensure its reliability.

First and foremost is a complete tune up including a new fuel filter and a walbro fuel pump. Basically, I'm going to be doing most of the mods listed on sportmachines "to get into the 12's for 1,000". I noticed there are a couple options when it comes to the IC pumps, looks like the shurflo is a popular upgrade. Anyone care to throw in their :2cents:?

Big fan of the Surflo here. I'll be putting one on my Sy this week, along with the ATR aux ic. Both really helped lower inlet temps on my Ty. Got another one laying around if you're interested.

I used a 12v live well pump for a boat as my IC pump. Picked one up from walmart for like $12 bucks and it worked perfect! It was almost direct "bolt in" too. Sureflo is the right way but there are cheap alternatives

Torque converter clutch switch - $5.00. Place a switch between pins A and F of the ALDL connector.

Call me a newbie or what ever you want because I am with these trucks, but what is the point of doing the above mod? Will that cause the transmission to engine brake when a lower gear is selected? Right now while going down hills it seems that I have to apply my brakes more than the other vehicles.

Have anymore info on the make/model? I'm in the market for one and it seems you can't go wrong for 12 bucks. It has to be better than my stock original from 1992.

Re: The modding begins!

I did the 12"s for $1,000 with a johnson pump, ultimate chip and cat back exhaust. Took it to the track and my first run ever with tire spin was 12.90 @ 102., so it does work if you have a good running truck with a fresh tune up.
