Bringing it back to life.

I bought this truck from a forum member with a blown engine. I had a new one built and put it all back together. Here are some pics I took along the way.

This was INDYTYCLONE's truck, its an 87 blazer body with all syty items installed, I cant imagine the time and money it took someone to put this thing together like it is.

The reinstall and cleanup looks nice. Hard to believe it's not a real Typhoon.

Yeah I wanted to take some good pics to show the work that was put into making it a very good clone. That was done before I owned it, and INDYTY had kept it going. It even has most of the PAS stickers, I need to get a tailgate sticker about the towing, and continue with some interior work. It needs the double visors installed and a new headliner, also a radio is on the todo list, but there are only a coupke things left that are not correct, like the oil cap and the hood prop rod holder, just little stuff.

Funny I have a real Typhoon and I no longer have the "DO NOT TOW" sticker.

Great to see this truck come back together! That was a nicely done clone and I'm glad it went to someone who will/did fix it and enjoy it. If this truck was closer to me I would have bought it. Nice work! :tup:

Running great, I have 200 miles on it so its still getting th easy treatment. I need 500 and will do an oil change. Winter has arrived so times to take it out will be limited. We had are first measuable snow yesterday. We dont get salt but they put down deicer which is nasty on wheels. Going to work extra over the next couple weeks and will get the interior going.

Why does everybody pull the front clip off when they pull the motor out? I think you are doing more work than what is needed. That truck looks Awesome! Did you have to use any spacers on the wheels? Are your axles the same width as a Sy/Ty? What size are those wheels?

Looks real nice. One thing I noticed is the hoses going into the fender, I would wrap another hose or something around them so it doesn't end up getting cut. I like the rims also, not the usuall vette rims like others use.

Front clip was pulled because indyty was going to do some frame cleanup. It was only held on by a few bolts when he brought it to me, so It was much easier to remove it all and have access to everything.

He also put the wheels on, I know he did do some modifying to make them fit the hubs, I hadnt looked at the rear but no space in the front. To the best of my knowledge the front axles and diff are from the syclone that donated the engine so they should be the same. Wheels are 18" G8's.

In order to make the wheels work, there is a little wedge shaped ridge inside of the center bore that has to be machined off (easy with a router and a 1/4" reamer bit) The rear uses inch and a quarter spacers and the front required no spacers. Wheel size is 18X8 and tire size is 245/45-18(Stock G-8) I think the G8 GT wheels would also look good on a SYTY, however I can't wait to see someone put stock 2010 Camaro wheels on a SYTY. Those would look really good.

This is a nice looking truck. I would be careful with that plastic cross over tube. If you or anyone for that matter over tighten the clamp on the air filter, or the air filter weighs it down enough it will stress crack. When it cracks it can let go of pieces that end up going through the turbo. I lost a stock turbo like that on mine a few years back.

It had some radial cracks in it when I got it from indyty. I took my dremel and trimmed about a 1/2" from each end, inspected it well and put it back in service. I need to devise some sort of support for it since there is no airbox.
