Normal?

I had my fuel pressure checked today, drove into the garage, put the guage on the rail and it read 0 psi.....Only when the key was turned on did I get pressure.....is this normal? If not where would the pressure leak to? What component could be bad in the fuel system?

Does the pressure disappear the instant you turn the key off? To my knowledge, before I turn the key and the fuel pump engages, there is no pressure on my rail guage......and it goes down slow but sure when the truck is not running.....

I was having trouble with my fuel relay but it doesn't sound like thats a problem for you if your rig starts right up.....and I of course am NO expert...lol...

It's been my experience that systems should hold fuel pressure.(BUT) Our Typhoon with a Accufab adj. regulator starts out with 0psi every time. I'm sure it's bleeding off over night or over a few hour period. It's generaly not a issue since the ECM primes the system for several seconds when the key is turned on.
It's nothing to worry about. If your having trouble holding FP when running or at WOT there's a issue with the Fuel Press. regulator. Check for fuel in the vaccume line that's connected to it after it's been running.

As soon as I drove into the garage we put the guage on and it read 0. I had to run my truck with the vac line disconnected and plugged in order to keep her running at idle...even then, if she has been running for about 30 mins of city driving, the idle drops off then she stalls....However, as soon as the key is turned on, I have pressure and it doesnt waiver.....I just received a new afpr from rpm but now I'm not sure if thats the problem....I want to start looking at the ignition module next.....

so when your trucks running you have no fuel pressure?? have you changed the fuel filter lately? or possibly installed it backwards?

I have fuel pressure when the engine is running.....I had the fuel adjusted to 50 psi again and it didnt want to stall at the garage....a fellow sytyer came by and we had a hard time registering any fuel pressure with the engine running or not....What I plan to do is when she starts stalling again, look at the pressure to see if its fluctuating....I recently had the fuel filter replaced by the same garage....they do all my work....I was hoping then that that would solve the problem but it didnt.....I just got spanked by a grand prix gt this morning....I dont know how much of this I can take.....
