Oil Press.

Allrighty, I took my Ty out for a spin tonight down to the local Mobil for a beer run (Hooray $13.45 20 packs of bud). I noticed the last time i took the Ty out that the oil pressure appeared to be running a little high. It was sitting at about 60 at Idle then at about 80+ish WOT. This time i took it out and the same thing is up. I start the truck with its normal puff of smoke and get out on the road after minimal warm up time (phx go figure). I hit the road and get into a little boost, this time the truck is doin the same thing, but it ISNT pegging. I get a few miles down the road and the reading drops back to about 40p norm 60P high.
Now ive used the search function as i dont consider myself a TOTAL syty forums noob, but i could be wrong, this doesnt sound like the regular shissety gauge problem. Oil levels are fine, Mobil 10w30 synth used last oil change. There is a slight leak thats as of yet TBD. and yeah i know i know I need to get my damn DM cable, im broke and working on it hehe. Could it be a bad oil pressure sender? hell im up for any advice atm. The truck does run fine, actually it seems to run a little faster when the pressure gauge is upwards of 60. Hell im half tempted to just take her in to get looked at by a pro as i am FAR FAR from it. anyone?

If this post is drunken stupidity and it is a gauge problem let it be known that i'm an asshole. If not.. enlighten me please :)

Re: Oil Press.

Murphy's law; high oil pressure = gauge prob, low oil pressure = eng prob.

TYRODD

My ass. Look at it.
Re: Oil Press.

LOL

I just replaced the oil pressure sender in my TY tonight. It was definitely a bitch :) .

The sensor is in a very tight spot, under the dist, not to mention its barely visable. Take off the cap, rotor, dist. module (gains you very little room but worth it) and maybe the coil ( I didnt, but could see how it might help). I couldnt get a wrench/socket on it so I used a small pair of channel lock pliers from the drivers side to loosen it. Getting the elec. connector off sucked. I used a small wire "hook" to pull it off.

Took about 45-60 min. for my first one :dunno:
