what would happen if you were to leave 1 paper towel in the intake and fire up the truck , most came out the tailpipe but would it jamb up the turbo . just got done installing new 255 pump , fpr, set at 42 no vac, 3-bar map,IAC valve , revamped throttlebody . truck wont make any boost and keeps dieing after you let off throttle ? feeling a little stupid after leaving a rag in the intake :roll:

Nevermind put the old map back in went for a test drive and all i have to say is holymotherf@!?in sheit is it a totally different truck than when i got it home!! idles smooth and crisp thanks to matt blum :tup: stab it an instant 15lbs of boost no issues whatsoever pure FUN cant wait till next spring when its got a 4l80e and a 60-1 turbo kit on it :rotf:

I wonder what DID happen to the rag... sucked in....torn to smaller pieces, and then through the turbo and chewed tiny pieces?

My friends a tech at our chevy store and his apprentice had an intake off. He left some in the valley and they got torn up and became a paper mache cork for the oil pump. Locked up an engine on a damn near brand new car.

I agree with 12SecondSy. I'd be more worried about where the rest of it is - which is more than likely very close to the oil pump.

but it was in the intake not under it only place it could go is through the valves into the cylinder and out the exhaust maybe recycle through the turbo for another round but i dont think i have anything to worry about :tup: It does take a little longer to start now from cold after that its puurrrrfect!!!

Just a thought as I read this....

Do you still have your liquid intercooler? If so take off the inlet hose to the upper intercooler and put a flash light in there and see if the rag/towel pieces are in there restricting airflow. If so this could cause a poor idle or act funny decelarating but may act fine at higher rpms.

I would imagine that it would either get mulched up by the turbo, or more likely burned up in the cylinder or as it passed through the exhaust. Similar incident happened to my auto teacher when he was involved with Formula 1. A crew member left a rag in the intake to keep crud from getting in, they re-assembled the shrouding, and did some practice laps. The car just wasn't making the power it should, and upon taking it back apart they discovered that the rag was still in the intake. They were lucky it didn't get sucked in, since V10 Formula 1 engines aren't exactly cheap:rotf: .
