New Ty Idles at 2,000 rpm... Suggestions and Help please...

Just bought a Ty last week with 87,000 miles that hasnt run in over a year. It had a new short block installed within 100 miles of it being parked. I put in a new battery and it fired right up. Drove it a bit to clear it out with some new 93 octane and it ran GREAT! Sounded smooth and purred like a Typhoon kitten!

Then the next time I started it the idle was at about 2,000 rpm.

No trouble codes...

I have a wrecked Typhoon that runs GREAT as well. I swapped the following from it...
- replaced MAP sensor, EGR, boost controller, TPS... it STILL idles high.

Bought new EGR gasket, new vacuum lines, fuel filter...

Any ideas?
My next step is to swap out the throttle body and IAC fom the wrecked one to the new Ty.

Any help or suggestions would be wonderful as Im stumped. :?

It's probably your TB linkage. Mine was too tight and caused my car to idle at about 2 grand as well. Play with the throttle a little bit and see if the rpm's come down.

IAC is probably stuck, although I usually get a code when my idle is higher than expected.

Altready tried that one. Adjusted the cable using the instructions on SyTy.org... It all seems fine.

IAC is probably stuck, although I usually get a code when my idle is higher than expected.

That is my next thing to test. I hope you are right.

disconnect the battery again
swap the ecm

Swapped the ECM and it idles great! Thanks!

Now when Im dring everything feels great but when it builds boost it starts to get up and go and then it sounds like I just let off the gas and lose power. What could be causing that one?

How do your vacuum lines look? I'd start by replacing those as well.

Replaced them all today actually. Did that before the ECM swap.

Uhhh nope I dont. My laptop is broken and being sent away for service and I dont have datamaster. Before datamaster people fixed thier trucks though.

you might be knocking and the ecm is dropping boost. might wanna get datamaster before continuing. good to hear you got it idling right

Well last time I sent my laptop out for service it took about a month. So I guess you can say I wont be doing datamaster for at least a month. Im bringing it in tomorrow to get fixed.

How would it be knocking?

what i mean by knock is knock/spark retard. maybe not enough fuel pressure, out of tune, ic pump not working, could be false knock since its a fairly new engine. datamaster would let you know the knock count and spark retard, letting you know to get off the gas. if you cant get datamaster yet, ask and see if someone close will loan you a run.

datamaster would also let you know if the ic pump is on from the view of the ecm,
do you know if your ic pump is working? you can test it pretty easily. youll here the ic pump. ( i saw your 'finally bought a phoon' and didnt think anyone let you know)

Yeah I checked it and the IC pump works fine.

get a can of Brake clean and start looking for Vaccum leaks. Mine was idling at 1500, before i found my intake leak. just my :2cents: Only trying to help
