Will taking the wing off help keep the back cleaner?

Just curious. I thought it was there to help keep the rear window clean but it still gets pretty filthy especially in the wet winter weather. Thinking about taking it off.

Any have any tips to keep the rear looking cleaner without having to go the car wash every day???

I tried to search about the wing but came up short.

removing the wing will definately make it dirtier from my experience of owning a truck with and without. seemed like without, there was alot more air turbulence going on in the back of the truck, especially noticable after driving in rain.

It does help to clear the back window, but so does a wiper

Weird thing I noticed is my blazer which is a 4door was never dirty on the back window with or without the wing now my typhoon that was one of the first things I noticed is my back window is always dirty, I dont know if it has something to do with the length of it or what :screwy:

The concept behind the wing is, it causes an area of high pressure (accelerated air) over the rear window to prevent dirt and crud from accumulating. Our Oldsmobile has one, and it does make a difference, the window stays pretty clean.

Not having the stock wing definitely make the rear of my Ty dirtier, but it looks cleaner style wise i think.

I agree with efveryone else. When I took my wing off, I noticed it was far mroe dirty than normal nad it got that way fast. The reason the Blazer isnt like this is probably cause its higher off the ground and has a rear bumper. Just a thought.

Hmmm.... Looks like I'll keep the wing on for now.

Anyone ever tried testing the removal and roof rack at the track? I'm wondering how much the roof rack and wing hurts the aerodynamics of these bricks? I know its bad to begin with but was curious if it helps trap speeds. For example, when I took off the huge stock wing that came with my STi, I gained 2mph in my trap speed.

The wing was never stock on Ty's to begin with. Everyone with a wing has added it.
