wastegate bracket

I went to reclock my turbo and I found out my bolts are not equal around the turbo. This prevents me to put the wastegate where it needs to be. I need to find a way to lengthen the bracket. Anyone had this problem before?

Re: wastegate bracket

i'm sure I could make you one. Lemme see a pic of where you clocked your turbo to. (i'm assuming you just clocked it 180 degrees so the outlet points straight down?)

I will get you a pic later today.
Yeah, I pointed it down and where it wants to be does not line up. I figure I can make something.

Re: wastegate bracket

Heres what I came up with messing around at work. Simple but will work. Worried about the material though. What kind of heat will it see?? I guess I can spray it with some header paint. Time to bust out the plasma cutter :D

Mike what do you think? remember I am limmited with tools and supplies. I have a few pieces of this mild steel, a plasma cutter and a mig welder. Thats it. Thanks

inner marks are where the wategate holes line up. Outter marks are the holes on the turbo. thinking of welding the bracket to the new bracket bt tacking through the holes?

Re: wastegate bracket

i wouldn't weld the wastegate bracket to the bracket your making...can't you weld a nut to the back of it so that you can just bolt the brackets together?

Re: wastegate bracket

nah...mild steel is used for exhaust all the time..this won't get as hot as that...you'll be fine.

Re: wastegate bracket

yes it fits but its tight. I did not have this problem with the stage 2. Guess its not a problem just a tight fit like our trucks tend to always be.
