Re: maybe or maybe not

Started by making mine 2400 sq ft with radiant heat in the floor and 3 16' doors. Painted the floors, lights everywhere, 24" painted checkered flag 4' from the ground. From the flags down is all business and flags up is all decorative ie; posters of the vehicle parked there (with track lighting to lite up the poster) and other signs and neon lights (Chevy service, GMC ect...) Of course there is the work bench wall complete with tool boxes, cabinets, compressor and welder. All machines are in the basement of the garage-another 2400 sp ft (different from the basement of the house). Complete with 6 cameras, heat and motion detectors and fire supression system. And yes, I do complain it is not big enough.

When I grow up I'm gonna sell drugs and build me a garage just like that too!

new house, so trying to still get situated....

etched and epoxied the floor, bought a new shelf/table/cabinet unit so i can finally have a place to work and hide away all my tools.

still need to hang more lights, paint the walls, hang some more shelving on the side walls and figure out the final layout i want. the Sy is up on jackstands and the 65 is stuffed in, both with misc crap and boxes in the beds needing to get put away or thrown out.

need to get an cable outlet put in (stupid me shoulda had it done when the house was being built) so I can put a TV in there.

like most others, never ending list.....

Painted the walls, ceiling, and floor this past summer. I added a nice new black Snap On box to replace my old blue one. I need some wall art.

Here's the before...

Attached garage 24x26. I love it because my 04 crewcab Sierra fits in even with the tailgate down :)
I don't have any before before pics but it was just wood frame.

Re: maybe or maybe not

well i turned my garage into a game room, insulated and has A/C.
Pool table, poker tables, arcade, all the wall painted dodger blue, epoxy sealed floors. fridge with plenty of bud light. working on getting a pin ball machine or golden tee.

Re: maybe or maybe not

i cut the tread out of an old tire, mounted it onto a torque thrust wheel, and use it as a hose reel.

my garage also has:
- recessed lighting
- 14' cathedral ceiling with skylights
- built-in 10' long floor drain
- recessed cabinets for vacuum, and air tools
- stereo, air, water lines, all behind drywall.
- recessed display case for diecasts
- 500lb hoist bolted to overhead beam

Re: maybe or maybe not

man mine is just a basic 2 car with unfinshed walls, my Ty and most of the SGT in there along with compressor, welder, couple tool boxes, couple work benches, couple bikes.

Basically its pretty full, and i need to get rid of some junk. When i moved in 4 years ago i was going to drywall everything and paint the walls and floor, but decided id do it at a later date. Probably will just save that for the next house where im planning on building a shop type gargae like Kieth455 has. That will be insulated, nice floor, overhead hoist setup that will go anywhere in the place and atleast one 2 post lift, maybe two, and id love to have my own alignment setup.

Where do you put your cars & tools? Garage space is precious in my priorities.

2 words - Beer Fridge.
(Gonna do 'er up in Diamond-Plate)

I added a 27x30 onto my existing 24x24. Insulated/drywalled. Woulda done bigger, but I had to get a variance from the city for this one as it is.

12 foot ceiling, I can get a short hoist in there eventually. 5" concrete. Floor drain in center.

I took the kitchen cabinets out of the house and put up, got a 16 foot chunk of surplus countertop for the bench. The cabinets need paint, oak doesn't seem to fit in the garage.

Need to make a leveling plate for alignments. Been considering springing for some turnplates.

30A circuit for the air compressor. 220 plug for the welder I don't have.

Was gonna do long florescent tube lighting, but went with a bunch of screw-in fixtures instead. With CF bulbs, the light dissipated is about the same, and the bulbs are a heck of a lot easier to change.

Don't have the permanent heat in it yet, woulda done radiant water in the floor had the budget been there. You can heat a garage with a 50-gallon water heater. As it is, I can heat the thing comfortably with 2 propane-tank heaters, and that's when it's -20 outside.

Re: maybe or maybe not

i had seen that crazy bad ass garage before. it is very nice, although he could have some better rides, i don't care too much for newer mopar. my garage is gonna be pretty simple, a spot for my truck to park and to be worked on. i am using behr paint for the floor insulated walls with sheetrock, the green stuff for humid areas. and a wood ceiling with 1 by 6 tongue and groove boards. i have a friend that builds cabniets for a living and he is gonna come over and help me out with the storage issues.i have some stuff for the walls and more will go up as i find what i want. it is a two car so one side will be for the sy, and the other is gonnabe for i would like either a ty or a sports car. i think after i get my rn and i save up some green i would like to buy a 88 or 89 ferrari 328. i love those cars. have for a long time, just like the sy. i was just able to get the sy first.

Re: maybe or maybe not

making progress here. just finished screwing all the sheetrock in place and am about half way done with the floating. i don't think the builders ever expected this garage to be finished in. i am making all kinds of adjustments and it is better but no where near perfect. i have off tomarrow so i plan on having itready for sanding so i can prime it i am not gonna paint the walls yet because i want to make sure that i get the floor right first. i would post some pictures but....this is just really more exciting to me than i think anyone else would see it. oh well, i am still gonna have to build a shed in the back behind the garage for the lawn care/ kids bikes/ and misc storrage. yep, a mans garage.
