PS dumb question

How do I check the power sterring fluid level. While the truck is running or off. I see the hot and cold levels but I cant get the fluid level where I want it. After I drive the SY hard I get a noise from the power steering. I think its from the air still inside the lines. I jacked up the car and grabbed the tires and turned them lock to lock about 50 times in hopes to remove any air inside. Is that correct?? Thanks.

Yes, that's correct to bleed any air out. I usually check it without it running but I doubt it makes alot of difference.

What kind of noise?

like it has no fluid....
Its loud and only after I rev the engine past 3500rpm. It will make the noise not at 3500 but at ilde after I rev it up. If I let the truck idle or cruse foe a few min it stops. PS is new and i have a zq8 box too. I guess it had lots of air in it. I have not tried it since I did the wheel trick. I hope I fixed it. Will know tomorow.

You made sure you had it running when you did the lock to lock turns?

i was told to leave it off and just turn the tire.??

Try turning the steering wheel lock to lock with the tires on the ground to exercise all the guts in the gear. Maybe someone put a Ford pump on the thing, they all make noise.:lol:

I've always had them running as to cycle the fluid as well. Worked flawlessly the last hundred times :lol:

The next two weeks there's no racing (Jul 25, Aug 1) and I'm gone on the 8th so the next time I'll be there is Aug 15th. Should have the truck back together by then and will be real anxious so see what she'll do with that intake gasket fixed.

Yes I know the web site says racing on Aug 1st but they announced that was in error so give them a call to be sure.
