wastegate on the crossover pipe question

do anyone have a video or anything that can explain how loud it is? expecially when you vent it to the air. anyone run a minigate on the crossover? or just any kind of explination on how loud it is.

I have a deltagate on the crossover. When it opens the sounds of acceleration get louder, but definately not as loud as an open exhaust. The sound is more like a high pressure air leak than roaring exhaust.

Could you not route the vent side back into the crossover and not have any noise?

i have one its really loud ...its great! its a 38mm i forgot what brand...when i race ppl they complain that it hurts there ears its also good for scaring ppl...i have a video but its a crappy cell fone one ill post it up...

Used to have an Innovative ProGate mounted on the x-over pipe with a little tiny exhaust turn down off of it to route it to the ground. It was loud, more so if there was anything on the side of the road to bounce the sound off of (buildings, walls, railings, etc).

I'll agree it isnt as loud as full open exhaust, but it isnt far behind. You'll get noticed.

If you did this it would defeat the purpose of the waste gate. You have to dump to atmosphere or too the exhaust after the turbo.

I have a Tial 38mm on the crossover, its loud but not that bad. If you want to hear it, come on over, i'll take you for a ride!

What was the point in giving you a ride when we were in Toledo? Especially when Gerber was giving rides in a 10 sec Ty!! Mine would have felt like a piece of crap! :lol:

At any rate, come on by Friday and i'll give ya a ride. Maybe we can look at the Ty as well and get that turd running!

If you vent it back into the plumbing pre-turbo, then it negates the point of a wastegate as the pressure doesn't escape anywhere. People generally either plumb it back into the downpipe, or vent to atmosphere. Just FYI.

My mistake. I wasn't thinking it was before the turbo. My setup has the post turbo wastegate.

No wastegate will work post turbo. What you probably have is a PTE, where the flapper is built into the exhaust housing and directs exhaust PRE turbo, to post turbo all within a few inches.

I have the rpm d/p with the extrenal wastegate. I guess its below the turbo. It seems more of a "post" turbo rather than "pre" turbo setup.

A local friend of mine had one on his stock motor Syclone. It was REALLY loud. At least as loud as an open dump. Except it sounded a lot more like a propeller airplane going by. (like one of those 4 seater Cessnas or some classic warbird).

just got a new camra and made a better video for yah...its louder then it is on the video...
