All the imports aren't even imports anymore anyway. The majority of them are built in the US to avoid import taxes.
I agree with Renz. Currently, there's no domestic that can hold a candle to STi's and Evo 8's/9's for "bang for the buck" price. And the GTO isn't even American... It's Australian, so it falls into the "import" category anyway.
You might be able to throw a stage 3 SRT-4 somewhere in there... but it's still a Neon :lol: and it's not stock for stock.

LS2 is american enuff for me
And most foreign cars ar "assembeled in america" parts are made over sees and that is were the money goes back to

I dont know how fast the STi is i was just make a few sugsetions but i did drive a turbo solstice and it had enuff pep but i though it was a :fun to drive car"

You guys are right on the money! I'd venture to say 60-70% of younger folks primarily dwell on (1) thing and that is being the fastest within a certain distance. They don't take into account the suspension of a Sti/Evo, nor the exotic braking system (now I will expose my ignorance but I drove a new Sti and IIRC, they are equipped factory with Brembo's), nor the safety factors. I include my 04 VW R32 in that batch too because it keeps pace with a Evo and Sti while outbraking both, hanging .01g more than the Sti and .03g more than the Evo and it even comes equipped with 6 airbags in the front pilot area. Jimmy can attest....we rounded a 30 mph curve at 72 mph and I could have cranked it up another 10-15 without any problem and that is on Pirelli street tires! I would favor any of the 3 but the fit/finish/feel of the R32 just seemed to me to be a bit more refined. Still, it could use more power though......

There 1 or 2 R32's here in town and I love the way they look. Darn things hold their value too :rant: :lol: I wouldn't mind having one for sure! Or an STi or an Evo. But I don't need one anymore, now that my Ty is back on the road. Just need to get our Volvo back and we'll be all set... too bad it's not an 850-R. :lol:

If you read my post, I never brought money into it. I just said there are American sportscars that are better then an STi.
I can see how much you love your STi, and you can tell how much I love the Corvette.
But, for arguments sake, you are right. Any American sportscar in the $30K new, will be no match for it.
Would I drive one, or course. I just have a personal preference for other things.
I do love that boxer engine sound with a nice exhuast though. :tup:

I have driven my buddies moded sti plenty of times and I have to say fun car to drive.. but not my kinda speed honestly.. Im more of a 1380 kinda guy so the money maker with me is in the first 60ft so i'd have to lean towards a 03/04 cobra with a smaller pulley and cai with a tune anyday of the week

I don't LOVE the sti. i just have personal experience w/ it so i defend it. Its not a creature comfort care by any means - and thats what i hate about it. Plus as i get older i feel like its more of a kids car.
